RE: Why are all my controls Backwards?
Mike,
I'm sorry if my post came across as harsh. I re-read it and can see why you could take it that way. (The internet doesn't let us see facial expressions or hear tonal inflections in voices.) When I said, "jumping into things" and, "not asking questions", I was referring to you 'burning up your radio' and 'starting your engine, and having it almost take your hand off'. if you'd asked here about using the Futaba charger, someone would have said, "don't do it", if you'd asked, "anything I should know about changing out radio equipment?" The discussion probably would have lead to reversed servos. I was only trying to point out that learning first will save trouble, money, and possibly fingers. ;) Dennis- |
RE: Why are all my controls Backwards?
I am a total newbie as well. I got my NexStar for Christmas (great wife!) and since the weather has been terrible, with wind, rain, snow, sub-zero temps, I have been keeping myself busy reading everything I could here, building a Slow Stick to play around with, and slowly working on a GP Extra 300S.
Now one thing I DID learn here was SAFETY SAFETY SAFETY! When I mounted the radio gear in my Slow Stick, I knew I would have no idea if the throttle was reversed or not, so I used a little common sense, and set the throttle half-way, and stood back with the plane anchored down. Sure enough, the throttle was reversed, but I only had to deal with 50% power that I was ready for. 2 seconds later I was able to figure out which way was 0%, heck that was easy, and I set the Tx to reverse that channel. Not a big deal, but the point I am making, or actually backing up what FlyBoy said, is that even in the short time I have been here, I have seen the newbie questions over and over. I asked them too, as does everybody else. So don't take it that people are down on you here. Everyone just wants everyone else to listen and learn, and if you don't know ask first! Should that have caught you by surprise? No. radio range checks and servo/control directions are mentioned here more than I change my shorts. Thank goodness you were not seriously injured, and you now learned 2 things: Radio checks, and ask if you don't know. Heck, I'll bet a crisp $20 that in less than 2 years, you will be on the other side of this same conversation with someone else just getting into the hobby! Here's Fletch's Safety Tip of the Day: ALWAYS wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before going to the bathroom after using CA! [:@] |

No problem. Always happy to help folks, the way folks helped me when I started. (But sites like this didn't exist. [:o])

RE: Why are all my controls Backwards?
Sure they did DB....You just had to know Morse Code...LOL (jk) Nawww..... this is the most valuable training tool I've had since starting this sport. Lot's of people who have already made the mistakes for you and most are even willing to admit em'. [8D]
