Help Finding A New Plane!!!
 

Hi ive just mastered the trainer with about over 6th months of solo flying time and i think its about time to move on. Im looking for a plane that is fast but can fly slow and stable. Also that can do some major acrobatics that are smooth looking and about any move possible. I am also looking for one desently sized plane about the size of my old nexstar trainer if your familiare with the plane's size because of storage space i currently have. I would also maby like to try a firberglass or carbon fiber bosy too for increased durubility. I also would want one that is war bird like model like a P-51 Mustang, Spitfire, or Cosair. Also iam 16 and on a budget trying to a plane that meets these need but about no more than 600$. Also ive never built a plane so i was hopeing if the was an RTF model like this but i doubt it or an ARF with monokote already on just servo, engine, and transmitter installation is all i can probably handel at this time seeing as i really have no one that can help me. If anyone can tell me a modle name or a link to a plane that meet some of the requirements im looking i would greatly appriciate it.:D

Hey Matt, I understand you want a warbird, but I think that will be like jumping one step, that will be more like a third plane, what you need is a mid wing aerobatic bird like an Extra 300, Laser 200, Edge 540, Cap 232 or something like that. They fly AWESOM, do aerobatics, 3D, are a little fast, and land like a dream. Go for a .60 size. If you like the idea, let us know so we can recommend actual models/brands. The Great Planes Extra 300s ARF .40 is a super airplane, but there are many others.

Fwiw, some of your 'requirements' are almost contridictory. Scale warbirds are fun to fly, but they aren't capible of the wild acrobatics that a plane designed for that stuff is. Most guys settle in to one type of flying or another, while other guys wind up with a hanger full of aircraft that all fly differently, depending on their mood and what they want to do at the moment.

There are lots of threads on here about 2nd planes. Just do a search on "second plane" or "2nd plane" and you'll have plenty of links to specific kits of all sorts.

You want to head toward wrbirds... here's a plan for you:

Get the Four-Star 40. Learn to put it through its paces. (flight characteristics are exactly what you asked for)

To prepare to tranition to a warbird... clip the outer bays off the wing. Do some more flying to get used to that. (won't take long)

Start SLOWLY adding weights on the CG. When you can comfortably take-off, fly around and land the thing with 10 oz in it (don't do hard aerobatics loaded that way..) you are ready for most of the .40 to .46 size ARF warbirds.

I would recommend a Stinger. Lanier RC sells these. It will do all that you have stated and more.

Well... Lanier would have to have changed a LOT for me to recommend anything they make.

They would have to have changed what materials they use for thier aircraft structure.
They would have to change what glues they use.
They would have to improve the accuracy of thier molds and dies.
They would have to implement some form of quality control.
(well they do control quality, at the lowest level possible)
They would have to have some form of customer service.
(rather than just a note saying "Too bad. Sorry. Thanks for buying our kit." )
