First flight!!

Well i made my first and second flight today. I have a nexstar i had good flights with very good landings for my first time with an rc airplane. The only thing is the plane tends to gain major altitude when i release the sticks. Could this be because the speed stops (thing's) are acting like a flap? Very happy so far and the wind was at about 12mph. [:-]

What do you mean "speed stops"? Have you trimmed out your radio? You can adjust how much "up" your radio gives the airplane when you let go of the sticks. That way if you adjust that, your plane will not want to go up when you let go. Hope this helps.

Thanks man. i had to trim it down some to push the nose in a little. What im talking about is on the nexstar select. pics below http://www.modelairplanenews.com/ima.../nexStar04.jpg

They look like thay act as good flaps?

Yes, they can act as flaps. But also the nextstar has a high-lift wing. It's not uncommon for trainers to gain altitude like crazy when you add power.

Congrats on your first flight! I had mine last weekend on an Avistar, but I saw a Nexstar today at the field for the first time. It wasn't flying, but I got to hold it in my hands... No offense on your choices, but I don't like it. Too many features and stuff... Enjoy it, and the stuff! Lots of luck and fun...

I would recommend to spend time on the sim and learn to fly without the autopilot. What ever you do, don't remove the flaps. YOu may want to adjust them in or out if your plane tends to roll or it takes a lot of trim one way. When you are ready to take them off, let an experenced test pilot do it. He/she will have their hands full because the plane will want to dive HARD!

I think that's the only good looking trainer out there. The rest are not much to look at. I have an avistar. It's ugly but flies good.
