If you are a beginner then the best advice anybody can give you right now is to not put anything in your twin mustang at this time.
Go to your local hobby store and purchase a 40 size trainer and install your equipment in that. Learn to fly it before you touch the twin mustang again. If you do not follow this advice your twin mustang is already on the path to destruction. Ed S |

I know it wont make you happy, but if you want to be successful in this hobby you'll have to wait on the mustang. If you don't believe Ed Smith and me, go to a club and see if someone will let you fly their trainer (with a buddy box of course). You'll find out that flying isn't as easy as it looks. This is a great hobby, but some people get discouraged if they pick the wrong plane and crash it.

Mine was the .10 sized one so If yours is bigger it outta be much easier to work with. Had the experience with a young man last weekend who showed up with a brand new Uproar. Beautiful airplane. Had he not needed assistance getting his brand new Tower .46 started...he would have tried to fly it, and since we were at an "public" field, we didn't question someone with a plane like that. While helping him get the engine tuned, we found out he had never flown before, and didn't have a clue that he couldn't just do it. He was very nice but also determined, so we offered to let him fly Sassy's trainer type plane first. After 30 minutes of flying her plane, he was doing nice ovals of the field with it. We then took his plane up and let him try it. He did real well, but also learned real quick that he couldn't have EVER succeeded on his own...or even with help with that much airplane. To make a long story short, we made a new friend, saved a beautiful plane from destruction, and we have a new pilot who possibly won't get discouraged and quit after destroying a winter's worth of work.

My first flight with out assistance lasted 3 or 4 seconds. After rebuilding i tried again a week later. This time was much better, about 15 seconds.
Get a trainer and a good teacher. It will save you a ton of money and make it a lot safer. |
Heartbreak On The Way
Mustang for a beginner? Man I thought I was a bit on the NUTS side.
Put the STANG on a shelf out of the way for the next year or two and get yourself a nice, flat-bottom TRAINER. If you don't - all you'll have left is a pile of toothpicks, regrets and heartache. Listen to the guys here that are trying to save you a lot of grief. If I am not mistaken, there is a club or at least a VERY nice flying field out by the Cliffs (Volcano Cliffs) there in Albuquerque. Take a drive out there and talk to some of the pilots there. $10 says they will give you the same advice. Go with the trainer and save the STANG. Good Luck, Crash Master |

Slayer, I know you are a bit discouraged, so to give your ego a boost I would recommend the following:
Go to the guy who sold you or recommended this mustang and... SLAP THE LIVING #$@#$# OUT OF HIM! Sorry about that, but often times someone selling an airplane will say anything to you to make a sale. If however you made the choice on your own, heed the above advice. It is sound and wise advice. Be patient, You'll be flying that twin in no time. Good luck. |
