hey, i have a question. i am new to rc, and i would like to know if you all keep log books of your flying times and stuff like that? i was just wanting to because i am a prt. pilot and i know we have to keep log books. thanks

There is no requirement for a modeler to keep logs, but a lot of people do.

I kept a logbook until I soloed and then I stopped. I am considering creating a new one for my batteries. I need to keep a record of my usage, flights, and re-cycle stats.

I used a flight log for a while, but stopped because it seemed to get repetitious.

I made mine with an Excel program. It doesn't have to be fancy.

Mine use to be a 3x5 notebook. I noted when I flew (date). Where (what field). The weather. What I flew, and how many times. And any misc. nots.

Note: use to be. It got stolen along with the rest of my radio gear :(

Yse, I did like DBCherry and made one in Excel. In my first, I put my plane, number of landings, number of take offs, time in the air, total time in the air, # of flights for the day, total number of flights. Things like that. I tried adding the battery info, but the spreadsheet became just too much for one sheet. I figure that I will build one from the ground up for batteries. Probably when Spring and flying weather gets here. I am beginning to experience withdrawl. In the past couple of years we have had some days where you could fly. This year has kept me home building. Although yesterday was the worst. The temp was 20-25 most of the day and since my building area is in the garage, my kerosene room heater just wasn't up to the task.

hookedonrc that is not that cold it was 10 here yesterday i went fly like maybe 3 weeks ago
and it was like 0 out it was bad. i was on a buddy box and we only got up once. it just would not start. i am happy it started once.

No, 20-25 is not that cold if you take out the wind. That's what really does me in. I can't remember exactly, but with the wind chill it was in the teens. I moved here from Minnesota and have lived in Detroit and Chicago, so I know what real cold is. Of course, I wouldn't fly in that either.

ya with the wind it was like -19 and i tryed to fly it was bad
