Astro coupe?
 

Hi all since I am releatively new to rc (started flying last june) I would like to know if anyone has any information about this model or if this is suppose to be a aero coupe? It seems pretty darn old and has some unique landing gear with a strut configuration on it. Thanks and any info would be appreciated.

It's a rough copy of the pre WWII Ercoupe then with later upgrades was called Aircoupe. The scale cowling would bring it closer to the actual plane.
What is it's wing span and engine size ? These older plane kits are great to take to the field and fly considering all the seen too often styles of planes today.

RReis is correct. It is a sport scale Ercoupe. looks like a nice plane. Supposed to be good fliers, stable and fairly forgiving. Take 'er out and enjoy it.

It needs a little TLC since it was damaged in shipping , the tail was busted in shipping and I need to re-coat the whole plane since I cant match the monokote. The airplane overall needs a little tlc , the verticals needs to shored up and the enya 60 4stroke needs a little tuneing up. I will have it ready by spring thats for sure. Thanks for the help.

United package smashers, Sheesh sometimes I wish they would get thier Ca-Ca together. It's a shame what the shipper did to your plane. I hope you getter all fixed up.

I once made a website dedicated to all the boxes UPS busted up for me in 3 months. (I took digital photos and sent them to Tower... then when the 5th reship of the same order came in smashed... I made the website) I left it up... (might still be there.. it would be on FortuneCity.com They hadn't deleted it when it had been up over 9 months with no edits.)

The Ercoupe is an interresting aircraft. The originals had no moveable rudder and no rudder pedals. They were marketed as a "crashproof" airplane. (:eek: right... it flies it can crash:eek:) They are nearly impossible to spin. (the CG is too far forward and the wings have significant wash-out)

Later models had the rudders made moveable with either rudder pedals or linkage to the ailerons. There were retrofit kits sold to make the rudders moveable on any one of them.

Color schemes are abundant for scale modeling. If you can think of it... there was probably one painted that way at some time. I had a neighbor that owned one painted in late 1930's army trainer style. (see PT-19 triners) A few were used as military trainers durring WWII, and some got used by the military as late as Vietnam.

Default was fabric covered wings and all metal fuselage. You could have the wing aluminum covered at a loss of appx 70 lbs maximum cargo weight (which meant you could only have two 200 lb people in it with no baggage if it had full fuel)

(hmm... someone might think I like the things. ;) )

I don't mean to be smart but the Coupe was manufactered as a "stall proof" Don't take this the wrong way. BTW very nice plane. My uncle had one before he died and i rode it it a couple times.

Neat plane. It's an Astro Hog kitbashed into an Ercoupe look alike. Was a popular idea a few years ago. Don't remember where I read about the conversion but I do remember it being in a magazine.

Nice plane, its a shame what they did to it, They smashed four for me so now I use Greyhound.
Not even a dent in the box now.
