engine help!!!!
Hi there guys i recently bought myself a plane with a os40 engine in it i was just wondering about how i should have it set up any help would be great
Many thanks :D |
RE: engine help!!!!
Chances are the engine is set up the way it should be, assuming you bought it from an experienced flyer.
You haven't said whether or not you've flown before, or what type of plane, but if you're new to this I hope you plan on finding a local club and an instructor to help. He'll be able to do any 'tweaking' that might be needed. Good luck, and welcome to RCU. ;) Dennis- |

Sorry the airplane that i have got is a low wing mounted cessna, the plane is set up ok its just the set up of the engine that i am after, as in how many turns do i turn the needle valve etc.etc,In answer to ave i ever flown before than that is a no, there is a guy i see flying his planes up near where i live and i am going to go and see him for help flying my plane.

RE: engine help!!!!
Start at 2 turns from just closed, see the man near you for real help. Asking questions here is good, but if you can get some first hand help, you'll get along faster.

RE: engine help!!!!
Problem is, every engine is a little different, so we can't "tell" you what the correct setting will be. Unfortunately one of the only ways to tune these engines is by ear, and it's difficult to describe sounds. The other way to tune them is with a tachometer, but again every engine will have slightly different peak and best rpm level.
Go see that guy and ask for help. ;) Dennis- |
RE: engine help!!!!
When in doubt, go to the manufactures page. Here is the link to the OS web page of manuals.
