Big Stick 40?
 

Would a big stick 40 be a good second plane? if i get it i plan on putting in a supertigre 51, and futaba 6exa radio.

I got a Hangar 9 Ultra Stick 60 for my second plane. It flys great and with the flaps down lands slower than my trainer. I like the hangar 9 Ultra Sticks better because you have the option of full length ailerons or ailerons and flaps.

I got one for my second plane and like it just fine. It is faster flying and more responsive. It goes where you tell it so is not hard to learn the tendancies of in a reasonable time. The stik type offers numerous possibilities for mods and accessories. You should be able to enjoy it in one form or another for years to come :)

Where can i find the ultra stik? is it arf? And do they have a 40 sized? thank you for you reply's

Horizon hobby carries it and so does rcsuperstore. Yes it is an arf. I have the 40 size. You should be able to set up flaps on the 6 channel. I don't know if you can use the crow feature on a 6 channel or not. Go to the radio section of this forum and do a search under the manufacturers sub forum. I like this plane a lot.

thank you i found the ultra stik! i love it. One question though. I have a 6 channel computer radio with a 7 channel reciever, Do i need more channels or will 6 work? How many servo's do i need for this plane? Thanks!

Yes,I am using a Futaba 6xas and I set up the quad flaps. The flaps are on chanel 5. The gear switch drops the flaps and the airbrake switch pops the ailerons up.

I loved mine - lost to a mid-air (hit from underneath and popped the two wing bolts. Atomic Lawn Dart). It is a pleasure to fly. I had an OS 70 II and converted it to a tail-dragger. Whether it is a good second will depend on how you use it. It lands very predictably and is stable, but goes exactly where yor point it and will not correct itself for slight attitude changes as a trainer does. If you take it easy for the first few flights and use low rates you should be fine.

There is going to be always a place in my hangar for a Big Stik great plane, increase the trhows and go wild, if you can go with the 7caf instead.
