Alright, got my alpha 9...

First of all. What allen driver do i need to change the prop
Second of all, how do i make the back of the plane stay put, it seems loose
Third, there's a wire that says charge and another one that says aileron in the plane. What are they for exactly, i can guess the charge one is to charge it, also, when, how and for how long whould i charge the tx and rx batteries.
Lastly, ive got the kwik start with its charger, and a chicken stick. How exactly do i start the motor.

First, go here and download the manual to go with your plane. After reading this carefully most of your questions should be answered. Also, many many many questions have been answered here. If you have specific questions then try searching for those topics and restricting the search to this forum.

I'm not going to answer any of the above questions here as they are all answered in the manual along with about 20 others you haven't thought to ask yet :D.

Wellington or WEST PALM BEACH is about 4-5 hours from tampa i think, i went there some years ago...

Well, I can't help you with that particular plane, but engines is engines for the most part. Take a look at my website. I cover pretty much what you need to do to get it running and maintain it. As far as the plane goes, if it's not covered in the manual, then call the manufacturer. The radio should be charged about 15 hours the first time.

Look at your battery pack and the charger. Both have Milliamp ratings on them. If the battery is 600 Mah and the Charger is 50 Mah, then if the pack is drained, it would have to charge for 16 hours.

Best thing to do is buy an automatic charger (peak detection) and you never have to worry about it. You plug in the batteries, it charges them, checks them constantly and shuts off when they're fully charged. A great investment - especially if you get one that operates on 12v so you can use it at the field. I don't even know where the chargers that came with my radios are any more. :)

Actually CafeenMan is right about the charging time. Batterys do not charge at 100 % efficiency so you will want to charge them a little longer than the theoretical charge time. If you only charge them for 12 hours then you may not have a full charge. Also its a good idea on new batterys to fully charge them with a slow charger for the first couple of times. [8D]

The book will say 14 to 16 hours for the first charge, and then up to 12 hours to recharge depending on how much you flew... if in doubt... leave it on charge from dusk to dawn. (Well... not in Alaska in the winter :eek: ;) that would be 22 hours in some places...)

Its hard to overcharge with the wall-wart if you just put it in charge while you sleep the night before going to the field.

All true.

Actually, I reckon the wall warts are pretty inaccurate in their charging rate, so anybody could make a reasonable guess and be right!

Actually, I did bad math. So I was sort of right by accident. :( 12 hours it what I would have said and should have mentioned something about a "little extra" for inefficiency.

Sorry about that. Now I have to mark on my calendar that I was wrong already this decade. I was hoping that wouldn't happen for at least 3 more years. :(

If i do the tail as described in the manual then its gona fall off!! its loose, i mean??? its just not stuck to it. What am i missing.

Don't know. Can you post a link to the manual or photos of the tail or something so we can see what you're talking about?

Yes, the tail is bolted into place from the bottom with 2 bolts. It's in the manual.

You do have the manual?

Did you read my other posts? You would have concluded that i did read them.

God,how can i explain this. Remember i got this from ebay so...

There's 2 things. 1, the prop is 2 bladed not 3, and the tail doesnt have anywhere to "bolt" to. Im taking pictures RIGHT NOW.

I bet not many people here would know, as we all tend to use one that fits by trial and error.
Try using one that fits.

THATS WHY I ASKED!, to be able to go and buy one that WORKS! i tried a 5/32 size and it was too big, so... I guess ill try to get a set. Right now im working on the tail of my trainer, i glued it to the back using wood glue...

NOw theres some good advice. I had a trainer like yours and the tail feathers WERE bolted on. CHECK YOUR MANUAL!

Yes, I DID see where you said you read the manual. But all the necessary instructions are IN THE MANUAL.

I have assembled these ALPHA trainers for others, taking no more than 20 minutes to do so.

The bolt holes are on the lower bottom of the fuselage. You stick a bolt up through the bottom of the fuselage, through the top of the fuselage and into the stabilizer. You already should have bolted the fin to the stabilizer..

There's 2 bolts, and they're a little tricky to install, but it can be done. You may need a magnetic screwdriver to put them in place.

The "real" manual can be found online on the Horizon Hobby web site.

The prop nut is a HEX style, just as all Allen bolts are. What size is it? It's the size that fits the bolt. Experiment!

The one on the Evolution engine is metric, but I don't know what size it is.

If you plan to keep with this hobby, I'd suggest getting a set of both metric and standard Allen wrenches.

Maybe some other basic tools.

And keep looking for that hobby shop...

I agree with getting both metric and standard allen key sets. If you have a Wallmart near you check them out. I bought my allen key sets for $3.00 each.:D
