Need Help !!
1 Attachment(s)
I'm a fuel Guy that recently acquired a Electric Citrabia from an estate. The problem is that it has a Glow prop 8x6 that taxis around great but does not have enough to get it airborn. Looks to me that the prop is too heavy? Ground clearance appears adequate for a 9" prop maybe even a 10". Battery tests good (Nimh). Can you help me with prop suggestions , p/n's? I live in Corpus Christi Texas and the closest Hobby shop is 30+ miles away. Here's the particulars: It's a Citabria ARF ( unknown Manufacturer See attached Pic) 47" W.S. , 8 cell battery pack (AA size, tests okay). motor = modelsport Speed Machine Max 480 p/n22908. It has gear reduction (looks to be 4:1) Thanks, Bob Schultz [email protected] |
RE: Need Help !!
Sounds like you have the wrong prop/gearbox/engine/airplane combo.
I have a Speed 400 motor with a 3:1 gearbox that turns a 9X6E prop. The whole plane is under 2 lbs. Best ask the guys on the Electric Forum. You will have to tell them the weight of your airplane, the type of battery, ESC as well. |
RE: Need Help !!
Unless that plane is really light the 480 may not be enough to pull it. (Max all up weight of around 28 ounces I'd guess.)
I'd also say the battery pack is all wrong. "AA"'s just won't have the required amp output for a speed 480. I'd start looking for a Sub "C" pack to start with. Take my advice with a grain of salt though. I've dabbled in electrics and have flown speed 400 size (similar to your 480), but am by no means an expert! ;) I too would suggest posting in "electrics" forums for better answers. Good Luck and welcome to RCU! Dennis- |
