Home storage
I finally got my planes stored where my kids cannot get to them :D. I put together my own storage rack in the garage. I don't have my camera handy, but I will post pictures later.
I went to Home Depot and bought what I needed. I got 2 vertical supports from the closet organizer section. I also got 16" wire shelf supports. After mounting the vertical supports, I installed the 16" shelf supports. I spaced them to put the wings for my 2 planes on top, then the planes beneath them. I covered the shelf supports with foam pipe insulation. The pipe insulation is pre-split and has double stick tape on it. Pull the plastic strips on each side of the split and use the exposed tape to secure it to the shelf supports. Doing it this way, it is easy to add supports as my hanger grows ;). I can also adjust the existing supports as needed. Also, you can pick up one of the wire shelves if you need additional storage space. I will post pictures later if this does not make sense. |

RE: Home storage
Thanks . Well now that im moving in with the Girlfriend I had to move them to her basement so I built a special room and still dont have enough space [:o] . All the boxes are filled with arfs still and I havent got the room to even build them. She always says " but you can only fly one at a time" I still have to move in two tables and a whole bunch of extra's for building. If anyone has any good ideas on how to minimize space im open for suggestions. BTW. the room im moving them all into is 19x14 foot.

RE: Home storage
Well heck, I see your problem skribnod! The Corsair and the Rascal 110 are just too big for the space. Send them to me and it'll free up a LOT of space. :D
Seriously, I know it's the way you set up your racks (PVC right?), but you could easily double up on your wing storage. Mine are stored with about half as much space between them. That would free up another section of wall. My current space is only about 9 X 11, and it's a real pain in the butt. I don't have half of what you do though. Dennis- |
RE: Home storage
One thing comes to mind. For a building surface, put it on hinges so that you can swing it up or down when you are working, then put it back up?

RE: Home storage
What ercoupe is that?

RE: Home storage
Thanks for the tips , a fold out table.....Great Idea!! I never thought of that. I could mount it on the wall and have fold down legs when I use it. I guess I do have a little extra room between wings. As for the aircoupe ,it is a astro hog that has been kit bashed into a air coupe. It is righfully named astro coupe and the airplane has actual working rudders. I think I may remove the 4 place airplane stand and hang them all. I wanted to keep a few together for fast loading but it takes up too much space. Does anyone know if you hang the airplanes by the props (around base of prop by spinner) will this hurt the props or warp them? Thanks
