Fuel tank problem
I just assembled a new fuel tank for my trainer. When I tried to fill it this morning when the fuel hit the tank fuel immediately came out of the overflow. I was able to remove the tank from the plane and fill it and then fly. It seemed to run ok. What have I done wrong with the tank guys?
thanks in advance steve |
That's Confusing
I would swear you are filling through the vent which pushes fuel out the carb line immediately. You lost me when you said it worked ok when you removed it and flew. Give me some more details and lets go from there_bob

Steve,
It seems that your problem can only be caused by one of three things... A) You filled the tank from the vent line, which would make fuel come out of the feed line almost immediately. B) Your vent line is in the wrong position, and not at the top of the tank where it should be. Or C) The vent is in the right position, but the tank is upside down. Check these first and see what happens |
Fuel tank problem
I think minn may have nailed it. If it was put together right, but installed upside down it would leak. Then when you took it out, filled it, is it possible you installed it rightside-up so all is ok now?

Fuel tank problem
Hey Minn,
I have one more option for you. I installed my front hookup tank on my Ultra Stick and it was rotated 90 degrees. This meant that the pressure tube was angled 90 degrees right (instead of up) and only allowed me to fill the tank 1/2 ways. When I flew it I was baffled on why I only got 5 min. out of a tank of fuel!!! I ended up pulling it apart and feeling really dumb!!! |
Don't feel bad!
There are so many stupid little things we can do to mess something up. Imagine how difficult it is to get the Space Shuttle off the ground!
And don't ever feel stupid! The reason many of us "older and wiser" types have the answers to your problems, is that we already made the same mistakes years ago! LOL Don't believe it? look at this thread: http://www.rcuniverse.com/showthread...033&forumid=59] |
