Bent Ailerons!
 

I have a problem with my UCD .46 that I am building right now.... The two ailerons, where they meet at the fuse; the left aileron points up, and the right points down... I have checked the alignment from the side of the wing and they are aligned at the end of the wings. The problem is, the ailerons bend in two different ways when it gets close to the fuse Any suggestions....? I plan on not going further until I get some feedback. Thanks in advance! copster

I just built one for my son and i noticed a little in his ailerons,i dont think there drastic enough that its going to effect the flight of this bird.one of his goes up and the other down slightly.but both bows are in the middle not at the ends.you might want to have some one hold the edge at the end of the wing and heat the ends that are giving you trouble with a heat gun

Heat and twist the ailerons to remove the warp. With the warps described you are nducing a roll. If both warped the same way (down at center is better than up at center) then there would be less of a problem, but you'd still want to fix it.

The wide thin sturcture of the U-Can-Do's ailerons makes them relatively easy to heat and twist the warp out.


The Tiger II's ailerons are a bit harder to correct... but you CAN fix it. and the airplane will fly better (less trim change with different speeds) if you do fix it.

If can be as simple as pointing a blow dryer at the control surface and applying pressure to the thing to twist opposite the warp. When it cools, release tension and check if you have corrected it.

Note... Mnokote takes a "set" if ypu heat it to JUST below meltng point. This makes it resistant to sagging or allowing the warp to return if you heat it to the correct temperature while removing the warp. You can then leave the arplane in a car in the sun and the cover won't sag.

I would put a heat-gun on that.... Hotter than a bowdryer if you have one- Keep in mind that is far more important to have them lined up at the tips if you have to choose--
