Hobbico Avistar RTF and a Futaba 4 or 5 ch system. Ask your hobby shop for something like the Thunder Tiger field pack that includes about everything you need to get started. Plan to spend about $400.00 to get flying.

Find the local flying field and ask an instructor. They will be the one's training you so you would want to get compatable radio gear.

To get started, one of the best deals is the RTF (Ready To Fly) planes at your local hobby shop. The only things you need to get in addition to this is:
glow igniter chicken stick (wood stick with rubber end for starting the engine.) spare prop fuel and fuel pump The RTF planes say they are ready to fly in 30 minutes. That is true. But the batteries on the receiver and transmitter need to charge for 14 hours. The plane comes with engine, receiver, transmitter, and all servos installed already. Just bolt the wings together, bolt the tail feathers on, and bolt on the landing gear. Most of the RTF planes are between $325 and $350, with an additional $25 worth of accessories. Don't worry about buying a field box right away. I used a plastic tool tray from Home Depot that I had at the house. |

But Nebbie, the TT field box comes in a suitcase form that has the fuel container, battery and pump plus ni-starter and nut wrench.
