Worn Servo Mounts
HEEELLLLPPP!!!!
I have a Hanger 9 Solo Sport trainer (ARF). The servo mounting tray is factory and is made of wood. The previous owner put the wrong screws in the servo mounts and now anything I buy that will fit inside the servo grommet is too small for the mounting holes. Any suggestions as to how I may mount the servos without trying to rip out the epoxied servo tray? Thanks a bunch in advance, Alan |

Epoxy 1/4 X 3/4 X 1/8 inch ply rails (for an individual servo.. you can make longer rails that cover the holes for 2 or 3 servos) on top of the tray. The servos will be raised a little, but it shouldn't cause a problem

Popcicle sticks work too, just cut them to fit as Hubber has mentioned. You'll beed to double them up though...
And eat the popcicle first! Drill pilot holes before inserting your screws. just makes the job soo much easier! Futaba sells a servo tray. You can cut out teh old servo tray, and moutn this in it's place. But you'll need to add a few runners along teh fuse sides to mount the tray. 1/4x1/2x4" long should do... depending on the width of the fuse.. |

Another way to repair oversized holes is to put a piece of dowel in the hole and glue with epoxy. Be careful when you drill the new holes as the dowel may be harder than the plywood. You can also drill the hole larger before you insert the dowel.

BTW... whatever you do, insert the screws, then remove them and get the servo out of the way, then put a drop of thin CA on each hole. This will harden the wood, making it less likely for the holes to wallow out again.
