soldering question

In soldering a threaded coupler to a pushrod wire, do I need to use a rosin core solder, or will just plain solid work? I did one pushrod already, ( a week ago) and don't remember which kind I used. It seems to be strong though. Today I used rosin core.

Let me know if I need to go back and redo the other one to be safe. (there is some brown residue around the joint, so I'm thinking I may just may have done it right the first time?)

Thank you for your input.

The brown stuff is most likely rosin. You need to clean the pushrods off or they may corrode.
Solder without flux will probably be much harder to use.

When Soldering use any kind of solder and a little soldering paste. If it has rosin core or not the paste will make the solder stick and run into what ever you are trying to put together with very little heat. Not a lot just a coating of one of the two ends that you are putting together. After it cools wipe clean with a little alcohol.
