Can someone please help on cg question
 

Hey guys. Could someone please offer some advice. I am trying to set the CG on a old Tower Hobbies 40 trainer. It is nose heavy and Im not sure to set the CG were the plane is exactly level or sightly nose down. Also I will be using the stick on weight and was told to cut the covering back exposing the wood and then stick on the weight. I have also been told to remove the tape on the weights and epoxy them on. Could someone please offer some advice on this also. Thanks for all your help and keep flying.

Ballence it level, right on the spar, and you can stick it right to the covering, but I would put a small screw through it into some hard wood at the tail. You don't want to shake it off. Epoxy and instant glue works too, but it will shake it eventually.

Note the wording - a small screw. I've seen some guys use a screw that's too large (coz its all they have handy), and the result is that the small strip of lead now has a pretty large hole in it - that makes a weak point which can cause the lead to break and fall off.

You want the plane to balance level, to 'slightly' nose down. And I agree with the small screw.
