Good Second Plane
 

Hello All

I am new to this forum... I have been flying now for about a month will be soloing next weekend weather permitting. But I also want to start looking toward a good second plane ......any suggestions

You will get a lot of responses from a lot of people about which plane they prefer. I went with the Sig 4* 40. It's an easy building plane and flies great. I would suggest asking your instructor though. He/She will know best which plane is best for your learning curve and such.

Tiger 2 or Tiger 60 will be a great transition to flying a low wing plane. It will make you look like an expert at landing.

So many airplanes... so little time. ;)

There are MANY MANY good designs for your second plane.

Which direction do you want to head? Scale, pattern aerobatics, 3D, Fun-Fly... just having fun flying around?

Check out the Ultra Stick 40 from hangar 9.... I'm putting mine togeather as we speak.. (passed my flight exam last week) I wanna get into aerobatics/3-d stuff, and loops and rolls on my trainer are ok, but not exactly where I would like them to be. I put the single big aileron insted of the "quad" option on the stick, cause I'm gonna try to get this puppy light and see if she'll hover. (2 extra servos needed for the quad option) Hopfully I'll be breaking in the 46AX this weekend!
Plus its a really easy arf to put togeather, pretty cheap, and you can use all your standard servos and .46 sized engine from your trianer too! Can't wait to fly it (hopfully a couple of weeks)
Nearly everyone at my field seems to have had a "stick" of some kind at one point or another.

Then the 4* or the Tiger will be good... or a Super-Stick (almost any stick) relatively small step up from the traner so you don't have a huge problem dealing with the differences, and much better aerobatic capabilities.

The Tigers are heavier than the Four Stars... and handle wind a little better. The sticks can usually outmaneuver either the Four Star or the Tiger. (Ultra-Stick is a much larger step up iin maneuverability than the Super Stick...)

To move up toward scale warbirds... you want taildragger. (any of the above can be converted if not already taildragger) and you will want ot increase weight for some take-off and landing practice (but no aerobatics while ballasted) before going to the warbird. (after you are VERY comfortable with the aircraft you are making heavier.... and add weight to it SLOWLY)

As is the Goldberg Tiger 2, the Great Planes Super Sportster, the Great Planes Easy Sport....

Thanks for all the input....

After looking at the differences and because I started out with a 60 trainer ... I think I might go with the Sig 4* 60 I like the looks and the fact it is a tail dragger out of the box.
