I am addicted now, this is nuts!

I find myself thinking about RC a lot of the time. I thumb through the Tower Hobbies catalogue looking at servos and engines and radios before bed everynight, I surf RCU at work and at home, I read the manual to my LT-40 while I am on the throne (recommended by another forum user), I spent 45 min yesterday in the hobbyshop talking RC with the other people and I'd never met any of the guys before that, and I haven't even begun my kit yet...although I am going to do step #1 after dinner tonight.....hopefully I can take command of the other parts of my life again soon. Its an epidemic, I'll tell ya.

Don't worry about it - enjoy the addiction. Just don't forget the wife or S.O..........or you will have a reason to worry.:D

Ya, my wife frequently reminds me that I need to spend less time on airplanes and more time on her. I keep forgetting......

man, i am the same way. i spend all my free-time trying to figure out what i could improve and what needs improving, i cant stop thinking about my yak on order, nor about my little home made 4 rotor thingamabob or thinking what should be replaced and thinking of better ways of doing it. it's called rc fever, and it never goes away. it's the worst when you have so much you want to do and no money to put into it (me) because you just cant stop thinking about how to make the money and all the wierd things you could do to your plane with it. i am sure if i had all the money in the world i would eventually get bored with it and move on to other hobbies. it's the lack of funds that keep the flames going.

I hate to say it, but it can get worse!!!

Just wait till you have to stop at the hobby shop for just one little item ... that took 40 minutes to purchase ... with the wife waiting in the car... as you are taking her to a fancy dinner on your anniversary!!!!!! OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

No, that hasn't happened to me (YET,) but it did to one of our club members just this past week. I don't think anyone has been able to find him since... hope nothing BAD happened to him!!![sm=idea.gif]

Welcome!!!

I fly every now and then (eight nights in a row and all day last Saturday and Sunday). It really has no effect on my life other than the time I spend at the field.

*** Oops battery is charged - gotta get it off the charger. ***

Back to what I was saying. You can enjoy this hobby without it affecting your life.

*** Let me go get some planes loaded in the van. I'm gonna get a 12 year old started doing take-offs tomorrow. (I'm a beginner myself and never claimed to be an instructor, but it is fun to share the hobby) ***

OK I'm back. Where was I.

*** Oops, stopped to look at a broken fuselage and size up a few sticks. ***

Like I was saying. I don't see why you can't enjoy this hobby in moderation.

Have fun!!!

Very well said. Things would be a lot easier/simplier if you have all the money in the world. Trying to get your plane ready for flight with minimum budget can challenging but rewarding.

oh I know that's right!

Be worried when the object you are assembling looks normal but there are a few screws and/or devices left in the box
This is THE way I build...I thought that was normal.

I try to keep it in perspective. If you think you spend too much, and you KNOW you DO! Just take a look at the Gallery here on RCU, and you will soon realize that there are others who have gone way out farther on the financial limb than you have.
It is a NON FATAL condition you have found yourself in bryris, but by ALL accounts...PERMANENT!
SO...when you get that familiar ITCH, from now on YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO! Also, simulators are great tools to learn with and help sooth the itch in the early stages of the disorder. Good luck and we look forward to hearing all about your "condition" as it worsens.[&o]

Ok, here's MY latest dilemma...

Last Sunday night I ran to the local Convenience store for Milk. As I was leaving, some chick backed out of a parking space right into the side of my Blazer. Her insurance guy just called and said he's sending out a check to me today for $1650.00

Now... Do I use it to fix the Blazer, or...

Drive aroung with a bashed rear fender, and get a nice DA-100 and something to bolt it to???

Decisions, decisions! [:o]

Primodus 05-11-2004 12:26 PM

RE: I am addicted now, this is nuts!

Minn, if the Blazer still rolls and can still haul planes.....hmmm....:D look for a used fender for cheap and have the best of both worlds. It's not that hard to change a fender or panel. And it's even easier to buy a new RC plane![8D]
