are z-bends adequate
 

I am putting together a SPAD(debonaire), and I am going to be putting the radio equip in soon. I am curious as to whether a zbend is adequate for the control linkage at the servo, or should I be putting another clevis on the servo end.

Zbends will be adequate. They have been used on most models up to .60 sized and larger. For your needs they should work well indeed. Just make sure you have no binding issues.

Z bends are superior to EZ-Connectors... but learning to do a good Z is a little challenging.

The "U" or "J" bend is becomming popular... just a U-turn in the wire. Its easy to do.. and works as well as a Z. (and makes you wonder why you messed with the Z's...[&:]) I'm sure there is some reason the U wouldn't be wanted on a precision aerobatic plane... but they tend to use clevices or ball links at both ends of the pushrod. (which is better than any bent end.)

"EZ Connectors" have a bad reputation for slipping... its hard to properly torque the things' setscrews onto the pushrod. They also have been known to have the little plastic keeper thingy pop off allowing the thing to come out of the servo. The metal keepers, and the use of lock-tite can overcome these problems.

I would trust Z bends above anything else. Been using them for 45 yrs in RC and havn't had a failure.

Sounds great guys, looks like I will be using the zbends then. I have a little bit more equipment to buy, and then I will be flying with an instructor soon. YEAH
