RE: Before I order .....

Hi Rich,

I fairly new so.... But what I've read your choice seems a good one!
I'm sure others will pipe-in.. I started with the LA 46/Avistar in late
Feb. And I have been happy with my choice.. I was looking at the
setup that you mention, But I thought I would catch on quickly so I
went with the setup I memtioned. Although I really wanted to start
with a low wing trainer i.e. 4*40or60.. But my trainer said if I brought
a low wing to the field, I may as well find another trainer.. But now
I think he felt alittle sorry for making that statement, As he has said
I was the fastest to solo since this club has opened(1987).. Anyway
he has given me a 40 Dazzler, which I am now flying.. And the
Avistar stays at home pretty much.. But I have used it to cord with
my Grandchild when they come up to visit..

Sim's are great, But will NEVER beat a Club Trainer!! And AMA!!!

Rich those are all good choices. If I was going to fine tune your buying I would tell you to buy a ringed engine. For a beginer I think they are a little more user friendly and run better at part throttle. If thats the engine you want though, buy it. It's not a bad choice. You might also order a buddy box cable if no one around has one. Sim time is great but you will still need a few lessons. Trying to fly be yourself will be a waste of money. You will crash the plane.

not gonna fly by myself, already have a club and ama stuff done.

which ringed engine would you suggest? I just cant see spending the $$$ for the OS engine. My 2 choices were actually a Mag and TT, so I am open to suggestions.

RE: Before I order .....

I'd disagree with Dave on this one. A ringed engine requires a pretty long, and slightly elaborate break-in cycle before it will run reliably, the ABC engines out today (including the TT 46 PRO) don't need more than a couple of tanks run through them before they're flight ready.

I think all your choices are top notch, and that you'll be quite happy with them. ;)

I had a .46 OS LA in my trainer and it is now in my Somethin Extra. It was 62 bux and by far one of the easiest motors to tune and it runs really well. Very low idle and good throttle response. For that money it is dang well worth it. Not only that it is a very quiet runner too. It just humz right allong. Take a look at it and think twice. later

Good choices. I especially think you will be amazed at what you get from the 6EXA. Low price, but one amazing radio. I bought one for my first radio about 2 months ago, and I am still learning new stuff almost everytime I go to the field.

RE: Before I order .....

You're welcome Rich.

Iowa,
I have a 46 LA that performs very well too, but unfortunately the reviews here on RCU aren't great on the 46 LA. It seems that about half of them run like crap, so I won't recommend them to anyone. [&o]
