First Bipe
Hi,
I am looking at getting my first Bipe, something for a Magnum XLS 52A. I would prefer a ARF but am not afraid to build (had practice now rebuilding several disasters!). One plane I like the look of is the Sig Smith's miniplane. If I had a 60 size engine I think I would lump straight on to a Sportman Aviation Waco 60 but I don't think my Magnum is up to it and I don't really want another engine just yet, plus this Magnum is great. Appreciate your suggestions. Looking for something non-terrifying to land, robust and fun in the air. Adam |
RE: First Bipe
I enjoy my World Models Ultimate 30 bipe. It has a Magnum .52, works out nicely. The up side : Plane flies great, when set up right, looks nice, adequate power for scale flight and ordinary aerobatics. The down side : Landing gear bends fairly easily (I don't mind bending it back), and the wing incidence must be set up properly (negative a degree or so, on the top wing, positive a degree or so on the bottom wing) or it will lurch off the ground and try to stall & snap. (Doesn't do that, with the proper incidences, in fact it's rather docile taking off & landing, now.) Mine will hang on the 12X6 prop for a few seconds. I'm not savvy enough to hover, but a better pilot probably could.

RE: First Bipe
Besides the WM, would be the Thunder Tiger Bipe arf.
