I need help

I'm new at this and need help with several questions. I have a Hangar 9 alpha trainer.

1. I have a hot-shot 2 Glo-starter. do I lock on the glow plug until I get the engine started?

2. I have a torqmaster 12 volt starter. when I tried to start the engine the propeller nut spun off. The engine is suppost to start counter clock wise and I had the starter turning counter clock wise. How can I keep the propeller nut from coming off?

1. Yes. Lock the glo starter to the plug until the engine is running, then after a moment, remove it.

2. Tighten the nut firmly (use a properly fitting wrench, not pliers) Press the starter just enough to turn the engine. It helps if the engine is not on the compression stroke when the starter is engaged.

you will need to lock the glo starter on the engine while you start the engine. It is 1/4 turn and a push and turn type. Keep it on there for as long as you need to but make sure you remember to take it off before flight. The engine does turn Counter clockwise, and the nut should stay on with adequate hand tighting force. It may have not been tightened very well from the factory. It will get easier to start and you shouldnt have a problem starting it after you have run it in. IF the prop nut refuses to stay on, head to the hardware store an locate a second nut that you can place on the prop shaft to act as a secondary/safety to the main nut.

PS find some one to help you fly that new shiny trainer the first time, other wise Ill guarantee a rapid trip to the hobby shop to replace the one that you just stuffed into the ground.
