what about prop position?
 

I know there is a way to position the prop on the engine(two stroke) to where I can start it by hand. I'm just not quite sure of where. Is it strait up at about the 12-o-clock position just before the compression stroke? or when the piston is a tdc? Just a quick question. What is your opinion???

BTW...this is an evolution engine on an alpha 40 trainer with a two blade prop instead of the original three blade.

best thing to do is bump the engine against the compression stroke in direction of rotation, dont follow through, just bump it. then set the blades at the 9 and 3 o'clock postions. I find it easy to start this way when i need a quick restart (grass nose over or something) and also if you have your engine die in flight it will stop like this and you reduce the chance of the prop sticking in and braking on landing.

There is no right or wrong prop position. Wherever it's most comfortable for you to flip it is the best place. Most people I know prefer a 1 - 2 o'clock position.

I was always taught that you bolt the prop on at 3/9 o'clock, so that if you dead stick, the wind will keep the prop horizontal and safe for a bad landing. By coincidence, that seems like a pretty good place for starting as well.

Yup 3&9 here as well. That is where I put all my props (when I remember).
