Hey guys im new to everything here. im wantin to buy a good plane ive never flew one before what do u all think about the alpha trainer .40 for me will it be easy to fly or will i crash it first thing and what all do i need to get started and what is a good hobby shop to get everything from

i just finished training with my alpha... it's the only plane i've flown but i love it. it's easy to take off and land but know that i've soloed I can still do some decent aerobatics. It's an all round good solid aircraft. I have over 30 flights on her and she flies like the first time she went up. Granted like anybpdy learning you have the odd hard landing. but the alpha will take the beating. very easy to operate and fles smoothly in the air. great all round plane!

I think it is a fine trainer. The evolution engine is top notch for beginners. I have trained several students using this setup.

Just make sure to get a experienced flyer to train with. All planes have a learning curve and most people would have a difficult time learning to fly without assistance.

I have flown many trainers. All of witch have similar flying characteristics. My favorite to teach on was the Hobbico Nexstar Select. Trainers are simple enough as a learning tool. The alpha, hobbico, and many others make a line of trainers that is good for beginners because the model is prebuilt and pre-assembled.


You could even look into building from a kit. It is not very difficult as long as you RTM. The advantage of building is you learn a lot about the plane especially if you need to make repairs in the future.

As always get an instructor- Contact a local club teachers can be easily found and its generally free to have someone with you on a buddy box. Even if you feel confident about flying an instructor can teach you important do’s and don’ts that you would otherwise learn the expensive way.

Adam, The Alpha is one of many very good trainers. In fact it is one of my favorite combos (and I've flown MANY)

But you DO need to get help. There is NO trainer on the market that is a "Good One" for learning to fly yourself. Check out the AMA's site for a club in your area:

The club will probably require you to join the AMA ($58 per year if you're over 18), and pay club dues (Which vary greatly from club to club) but the instruction is free.

Remember, if you only make ONE mistake while learning, your plane will become a pile of splinters. Having an instructor will save you a lot of money and heartache.

I strongly recommend the Alpha .40. I have one and I have been flying it since October. It didnt take me long to solo on it. I had an instructor. Now I am an Instrutor myself. The alpha does plenty of basic aerobatics. I could fly circles around our field inverted until I run out of fuel. It slows down nicely for landings. Its a great plane. Get an Instructor. It would be hard to solo without one on this plane.

I 've had my alphaa for a month or Two and have seven flights on it. I already took off and landed. It is a very durable plane and takes the rough landings well. If you get the Alpha it will have a list of iteams nessecary to get it in the air in the manual. The best way to find a local hobby store is on the internet. Look in the online Yellow pages.

well guys im goin to get my plane tommorw my brother is a real pilot thats whats got me to wantin to fly an rc one i hope i casn find someone around here to help me. Thanks for yur info and 1 more ? what kind of gas and glow plugs do i need to get?

RC Fuel with 10% nitro. Glow plug should be inluded with the engine. A spare would be available from evolution engines

You should contact a local hobby shop let them recommend fuel/plugs ect... They may also help you with flight instruction. Shops here will teach you to fly if you by the plane from them...

If you do not have a Teacher I would suggest you hold onto your hard earned money. YOU WILL CRASH without proper instruction and help from a quallified R/C Pilot. Don't mean to sound bad, but I would rather you enjoy the Hobby for many years then to buy a Plane Crash at first take-off and say "Forget that Hobby!"

Adam, if you've only been flying for a month I would suggest you keep flying the Alpha until it dies. Make sure you can really wring it out before going on to something else.

i'm at the point with my alpha that i'm afraid the stuff i do with it i will break the wings or the will snap in two. I got a second plane with everything ready. It just needs a flight pack and it will be ready to go. I'll probably order it soon nd should be flying my second plane in about a month. The alpha is a nice plane but i'm getting a little bored of the things i can do with it.

I been flying heli for about 2yrs never try airplane, but I think it time now I recently order an alpha 60, I will need some help with the radio setup. My question is, is there website or link I can go to learn how to setup my JRXP8103? I welcome any help you can offer thanks
