another problem
Well guys i got my alpha 40 started today about to go to the field and maybe fly for my first time. well i was messin around taxin and broke my prop my ? is do i have to buy back the same prop or could i get any kind of prop and put on it
|
RE: another problem
well seeing as how you broke it taxing I would use a 10x6 and get some bigger wheels, i have a Superstar with 3 1/4 inch wheels, it helps alot, aspetialy in high grass
when taxing give it up elevator |
RE: another problem
what size is on them and do i need another 3 blade or a 2blade and whats a good brand
|
RE: another problem
if u buy a 2 blade, you will need a new spinner
|
RE: another problem
coud u guys tell me another good 3 blade to put on it or where i could get the same one that came on it
|
RE: another problem
Master Airscrew is a good brand
Go to your local hobby shop Luis |
RE: another problem
Master Airscrews are a great training prop. i learned on a master airscrew, and then my instructer told me to switch to this grey prop he gave me. master airscrews are strong as heck, but not very efficient. but if u are just starting out, a master airscrew willl work greeaat!

RE: another problem
will it hurt to start my engine with jus 2 of the 3 blades i just want to listen to it run but i dot want to start it with only 2 of the blades on there if it will hurt the engine
|
RE: another problem
DO NOT start it with any damage to a prop! Not only could you throw another piece of prop and hurt yourself or someone else, but the vibration with destroy your engine and probably you plane as well!

RE: another problem
TN is right. Don't try to start it with a broken prop.
I would recommend getting a 2-blade 10 x 6 prop, and a new spinner. You'll probably break a few more props as time goes by, and 2-blades are easier and cheaper to replace. |
RE: another problem
Go back to where you got it and buy the same 3 blade prop, or.....get a black Master Airscrew 10X6 (almost too small but will work).

RE: another problem
Minn is right. Get a new spinner and some spare props. I would suggest a coupla 10-6 and 11-5 Master airscrew black plastic ones. That should work good with a 40 engine. If you have a 46 try 1" bigger in prop with the same pitch. That should get you going again. It is nice to have a few choices to try. so don't be afraid to buy a few different sizes and brands. It is nice to have a few to experiment with untill you find one you like. If you are above 3000' altitude I would go with the 11-5 first. Good luck.
