Hi Folks;
I am about to start my training wi th an avistar 40 with fox 40 bb and an older 4 ch am which my club says is ok until i can upgrade. here is my questions, i am considering buying a jr 631 tx. and puchasing a hanger 9 cessna 182 skylane arf. and zenoah 38 gas. do you think that after i have become comfortable and proficient with this semi symm. trainer i would be able to move to this giant scale? aerobatics and speed are not my main concern. I am an adult individual with a good mechanical background and motor skills. the reason i am asking is that i would not have the resources to buy many intermediate planes between these two. What are your opinions about the 631 and the skylane, and what are your suggestions as to servos for the skylane. GREAT SITE!!

TOTO, Welcome to RCU!

What you suggest is not impossible by any means. What I would suggest is: Once you are proficient with your trainer, Slap a SPAD together (If you're not familliar with SPAD, it stands for Simple Plastic Airplane Design) RCU has a forum dedicated to SPADs. They are increadably cheap (About $10 -$20) and damn near indestructable (They are made from the type of corrogated plastic that Election Signs are made from, just "fold and Fly")

That will give you some stick time with something other than a trainer, while you're getting the Cessna ready.

Once the Cessna is ready, have a good flyer take you up with a buddy box for the first time just to keep you at ease until you're confident you can do it. Once the butterflies go away, you really shouldn't have a problem.

Yea, in my opinion JR stands for Junk Radio. Just kidding (Please don't write me nasty PM's all you JR lovers)

JR is an excellent company. But I don't own any of their equipment, and I'm really not familliar with their model numbers, so maybe one of the JR guys will step in here and help you out...

I have one suggestion..... Why don't you go with a Futaba radio system? Try the Futaba 6EXA. You can buy it with:
4 S3004 bb servo;s
Reciever
and battery packs
For only around $120!

i have never owned a JR but to me it seems Futaba are more abundant and also the 6EXA will give you some more channels to work with and I believe the S3004's would be good for the Cessna.
