Hobbistar or Superstar
Hi
I'm new to this site and fairly new to the hobby. For christmas last year i got an Avistar and in the past six months i flew the heck out of that plane with only four minor crashes, nothing unfixable. Anyway, I am ready for another plane but I want a trainer. I could probally fly a little more advanced plane but i like flying trainers, they are just a load of fun to me ( and easier on my pocket:D ). So, hobbistar or superstar. Thanks everyone. |
RE: Hobbistar or Superstar
HobbyStar with the semi-symmetrical wing as you had with the Avistar.

I trained with a Hobby Star and I still enjoy flying that plane... I see it in my hanger as long as I don't trash it in a night fly or fun fly.

Get a seagull models PC-9... It's like a sport low wing trainer. I don't know what the airfoil is but i think this plane would be a great second plane. It also has tricycle landing gear like your avistar did.

RE: Hobbistar or Superstar
I've had both planes. Still flying the Superstar (well it has been turned over to the kid). The Hobbistar was a great flying plane. I replaced it with a PT-60 with a Magnum 91 four stroke. I think the Hobbistar would be a fantastic second plane with a four stroke on it. I did put a bright orange stripe on the bottom of one wing on the Hobbistar. It made it much easier to keep track of orientation.

Either plane bro, the hobbistar with a 65 in it uses more fuel than my avistar a superstar though Enjoy

THe Superstar is less advanced than your Avistar --- soooo Hobbistar is the choice -- and a good on at that.
