question about cleaning agent and antenna tie off

What is the best cleaning agent to wipe off your plane with after flying, I use cinch but it just seems to spread it all out!!

Also I was wondering how you guys tie off your antenna cords to the back of your planes

Let me know Thanks

RE: question about cleaning agent and antenna tie off

I use what ever the boss has:-).. Right now its Awesome lemon.. It seems
to work well.. But I just wipe my plane at the field, and when I get home I
use the spray cleaner.. Well most the times I do..
On the antenna tie, I use to use the rubberband method that I guess all radio
instruction show you to do.. Pin, rubberban, cut arm piece of longer servo arm
attached to vert. stab.. But now I just drill a small hole and stick the wire
through.. Don't forget to install a wire stop as the wire exits the plane to
prevent the wire from pulling itself out of the reciever, Then tend not to work
as good then...

RE: question about cleaning agent and antenna tie off

I have used windex with some success, but I am now using a mixture of 70% 409 and 30% alcohol that seems to work better. I have some "orange" wipes that were suggested by someone else here at RCU but haven't tried them yet. There is another thread here that will probably give you more ideas - try doing a search.

As for the antenna, I really like the Dubro hook and keeper, P/N 349 (http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXD666&P=0). It is a very clean and nice looking installation.

I use Simple Green mixed 1:8 with water and about a cup of alcohol mixed in (regular size spray bottle).

See attached pics for my antenna routing along the bottom of the fuse:

I use plain old baby wipes. It takes the oily mess off very well, but does leave some streaks when it dries. One wipe will easily clean my oiliest plane, and it REALLY gets covered. [:@]

I use different antenna mounting depending on the plane. Rubber band with servo arm and "T" pin to the top of the stab; or fuel tubing with a couple slits "T" pinned ot the top of the stab, run the antenna into the tube, out a slit, back into the tubing.

The main thing is to mount it so that it will slip if it gets caught on something, and put a "strain relief" inside the fuse. That way you won't rip the wire out of your receiver.
