vinyl coating?????
Does anyone know of a way to get adhesive backed vinyl coating to re-adhese itself? My trainer is covered with the stuff and it is getting wrinkles and such.
Thanks in advance for any help. Alec |

You can try a LITTLE heat to remove some wrinkles... a common blow dryer for hair on med or low..... high will burn a hole in the vinyl. Be careful....
Its very hard to get the contact adhesive to restick... The normal fix is to apply a contact cement, or tojust tape it down with clear packing tape. When the contact adhesive covering gets looking too bad... strip the plane (hair dryer helps again) and re-cover with MonoKote or other decent stuff. Note that the planes covered with this stuff can tend to have fuel seepage under the covering. its a heck of a mess to fix that. |

Thanks Huber,
I really do not like the way it looks with the wrinkles on the coating, I like almost everything else about the plane. My instructor, who also helped me set up the plane, said a little fine CA where the covering has joints will help stop the fuel seapage, but when both he and I tried the low heat iron with a cover sock, it made it worse not better. |
