How to make my plane shine?
He you guys, another question from me. I'm finishing off my fourstar now and it's allmost ready for inspection. I want to make it shine so it looks really good. How do you make your planes shine?

How to make my plane shine?
Generaly, the iron-on coverings have plenty of shine with no help. ;)
You can add some more shine, and seal up the seams with a spray coating of "LusterKote" This can help with preventing the fuel residue and cleaning solvents peeling the edges of the covering. (some spray cleaner mixes can peel the covering if the edges aren't sealed. "Simple Green" is one that will peel it.) Waxes also slow down the peeling effects of some products... but the wax comes off first time you use something with amonia in it. Never use rubbing compound on un-painted MonoKote. It will just abrade through the mylar. |

I've used good ole' car wax. In fact, it made the Ultrakote on my Cub so smooth, that I don't even have to use a cleaner to get the oil off. I also use AMONIA free Eagle20/20 glass cleaner to clean my planes. Amonia is what leaves those streaks, and it can discolor covering over time.

Cleaner
Try the new orange cleaner.
The citrus acid works wonders......and you plane smells good too!:D Doc |
Mayo
Cover it with mayo and let it sit for 24 hours, then it will sparkle like you wouldn't believe.

For a lasting shine, I second the vote for baby wipes. They contain lanolin.
