LT-40- a little imagination
 

I built this kadet originally to teach friends/family how to fly, but an idea (two) came into my head that I couldent pass up.


First, a very simple, cheap, easy to make camera mount.
To make it, I used 1/8 balsa as the backing, radio-foam on that and the camera, with thick squishy foam in the middle. the camera is rubber banded in place with eye-hooks screwed into the fuse. I used an HS-81 servo gooped to the the camera to push the button.

Second, A bomb drop
For this, I left in two lighting-hole-cutouts on the bottom of the fuse. The forword one holds the servo, while the aft one is the door. I used cloth hinges to keep things simple. To prevent stuff getting caught in the push-rod cables, I glued some coroplast about halfway down the compartment.

If you have eye hooks screwed into the fuse where the cam is, it looks like you would hit the tank. Plus you would need some ply reinforcement. That cam looks pretty heavy do what did you do to balance the plane.

The fuse is all ply. And there is a ply "fuse doubler" that adds thickness to the entire front, making it 1/4" thick, enough to hold and hide the screw eye from the tank. [8D]

That bomb drop thing is so simple, I might have to try that.
I love to see people who think outside of flying itself, add a little bit more fun to flying.

To be honost, the camera was originally going to go directly on the balance point. But the completed plane was VERY tail heavy. So that explains its forward position.
