Get a $7 crock pot from WallyWorld, fill it with 50-50 car antifreeze, partially or completely disassemble the motor, and soak it 24 hours with heat on. Brush any remaining crud off, rinse well, dry in an oven (if you can get away with that at your house) or with a heat gun. Oil well with air tool oil, reassemble and test run. The antifreeze really cleans 'em up. Careful where you store the antifreeze. Keep a long way from pets and kids.

Couple of things to add to what kdheath said:

1. Do this OUTSIDE. The fumes WILL get to you.

2. DO NOT USE THE CROCKPOT FOR FOOD. The antifreeze gets into the pores of the liner and will contaminate (read this as poison you) anything cooked in it afterwards.

3. Dispose of the antifreeze in a safe manor. Animals (and kids) like the sweet taste - it will kill them.

What they said. Also, use the "low" setting on the crock pot. (Too much heat, or too much time in the 'pot' can cause the aluminum to discolor.)
