I,ts not the plane but the pilot that makes it look easy. Get the funtana 40 with a 70 to 80 4-stroke use a APC 14x4w. Dennis

get a shocker, and move the battery back, and my Super Star trainer hovers nicely

A profile will be easier than the funtana. A lot of people want you to think it's all pilot but it isn't. If it was all pilot, you would see them hover everything they flew. Some of those profiles hover incredibly easy. Anybody can do it with a little practice.

Zetor is right, the airframe has a LOT to do with it. Hovering a scale cub is much harder than a profile built to hover :D. For your engine, there are lots of profiles out there that will do it, but to get the info on each one, check in the forums for 3D and profiles out there.

At that altitude, you're going to need a smaller-than-normal plane for that size engine.

Thrust to weight ratio obviously needs to be higher on the thrust side of the equation. Size of control surfaces that the prop can flow air over as well. Depends on airframe, weight, thrust, prop..... lot of variables to consider. Foamie profiles have the advantage in weight compared to thrust, obviously.

yes they are (or could be) easier then a u can do. btw, with your engine hoving a ucando .46 at sea level would just barely be possible. at your altitude, not going to happen, no matter what you do.

if you want to hover, get a spad pizza box flyer.

We have a pilot in our club that can hang a Cub. what i was trying to say is the plane won't make it easy without a lot of flying time. Dennis

i would go with a spad3d or "t"
cheap planes, easy to fix when crashed
trust me on this one i learned! luckly the easy way!
try it u crash u put a new porp on and go again! crash balsa u crash and spend weeks on the bench!

Build a SPAD 3D and get a dozen 12x4 MA props.

If you have real flight, you can download some planes that actually fly more like a profile. A good one is the goldberg extreme. That extra special flys nothing like a good profile. You don't need any add ons for that one.
