Yep, I learned on one. I still use it to try new things.
I know several club members who have used one.
I have had several students use one.

RE: PRE-FLIGHT RC FLIGHT SIMULATOR??

I think redraider08 was asking specifically about the PRE-Flight simulator program. I am also interested to know if anyone has anything to say pro or con about this software. It looks very good, but it pays to be skeptical when purchasing computer programs.
I would appreciate any input in this regard.
Thanks

Thanks for this input Geistware, when u loaded the program on your computer did you have to buy a new video card? I was looking to see if i had all the system requirements and on my system summary it never mentionend a video card. If you know anything about computers i have a DELL demension 4600 that is about a year old. any help would be great, thanks!

IF you just want a flight sim that works well why not download a program called FMS. Its free and works pretty good. There are inexpensive adapter cords that you can buy on the net that plugs into your radio. There are also dozens of free planes that can be downloaded. It also doesn't need a lot of puter horsepower to work. [8D]

I am a simulator junkie. Even though I have never heard of this one I have owned G2 and Currently own AFP. Just a bit of advice make sure you buy a sim based on funcionaltiy not based on the best graphics or the most expansive 3D scenarios. I love to fly 3D and IMO AFP is the best sim for learing that. If flying is your thing and general basic aerobatics I am sure any of em will do. If you like helis and want realism in learing how that react I have heard from heli pilots that G2 is the best for that. just be careful not to buy a sim thats no more than a sophistcated video game. Unless thats what you are looking for then I would try Reflex. By far they prob have the best Graphics. IMO for flight physics and realism in flying AFP is the most acurate. And their developers actually make simulators for the military. Thas pretty cool.

I unfortunately bought the Pre-Flight sim from a Ebay seller good price and looks good in their add, what a piece of sh*t you have to make sure you have the lattest drivers for your sound card and direct x9 loaded, then do other adjustments to get it to go.When it is up and running the planes fly to slow and its not my computer it's heaps quick enough for a programme like this. The graphics of the scenarie are good but the planes are crap , its nowhere even close to the Great Planes version I have seen.Don't waste your money.

RE: PRE-FLIGHT RC FLIGHT SIMULATOR??

I thought Pre-Flight is free and downloadable. I have a copy of it that I got off the Pre-Flight web page.

PS. It sucks.

PS. Don't worry about the specs, I got it to run on a 700mhz Pentium 3, but with a Radeon 9600.

Also, Red Raider, right click on your desktop, select "Properties", then go to Settings.

It should say (ex. mine says "Viewsonic E771 on ATI RADEON 9600 PRO")

RE: PRE-FLIGHT RC FLIGHT SIMULATOR??

Forget the freebies they are not worth it. If a sim is in your future go AFP the best on the market IMO. If general flight characteristics are your thing and advanced aerobatics or 3D isnt in your future then yea G2 will be fine. But their physics engine is crap it doesnt simulate real life aircraft based on the wind prop wash and drag. AFP certainly does and besides its way cheaper. Just my 2 cents but G2 is more of a video game if learning 3D and specific manuvers is your thing. if you are just learning then anything will do because all you are interested in right now is controls from flying at you and away from you. Good Luck.
