Golly, I haven't taken any offense to anything you have said. Further as far as I can see most of the advice given here was excellent. People have varying opinions of what works and what works for them.

Yesterday I had the unfortunate experience of helping a friend recover the totaled remains of a Somethin' Extra which crashed on landing approach. Although he has been flying a couple years this is the first season he has been flying alone. Earlier this year another of our fliers not that long off a buddy box sent a You-Can-Do to its' great reward. It hurts me to see people loose good airplanes and suffer disappointment when the real problem is that their enthusiasm exceeds their talents. I counsel people to keep their purchases under control and build up the flying talent with forgiving planes. If you absolutely must build that WWI bipe plan on keeping it at home a couple years while you build up talent. Oh, well, sorry about the soap box.

Hi Sparky,

I agree with Stripes, I think we all know RCU is a place to express opinions and I, for one, did not see a problem.

If possible, try and get a inexpensive plane, perhaps second hand, that you can get up to speed with. Usually you can find one if you ask around. We all know it takes a while to get your "sticks" back and you don't want to put a lot of money into your first "back to flying" plane that may take a few hard landings at first ;).

We are all pulling for you and I hope you'll keep us posted with your progress.

You can find out a lot about people posting by checking their profile. where they post and what they post. We lost a bunch of members in our club by some guy in a different thread , a none member Blowing steam.
Most answers are from experienced modelers , others are from people that read a lot and fly very little.

Thanks stripes, soap box is what i need, the only thing that bothered me was what i said
about the instructor situation. also i normally use size 5 font, then after i started and
saw larger size i thought ...oh well it might standout better as an apology, no anger here.

Now back to the fun,i ordered a trainer yesterday and had previously bought a new
(discontinued) futaba 6 xas fm radio no engine yet. i got the hobbistar 60mk.III, it is
a lot like the plane i learned on just 10 inch longer span,being a arf i can build it ,install
servos and learn how to program the radio while recovering from my 2nd knee replacement
on the 24th of this month. (1st knee and quad tear 12/23/03,totol rotator cuff and bicep tear
2/11/04 ) have had a lot of time on my hands this year.
I am glad i got off high center and ordered a plane yes yes yes!! boy talk about soap box
i sound like a soap opera. Now back to the good stuff. Thanks abunch.

Thanks Wayne, I just told stripes that i ordered the hobbistar 60 mk III, but forgot to tell
him i am getting use of an old trainer(flys good) from a friend. I really appreciate your

Hi Sparky,

I looked up the plane and I like the idea that it is wood (repairable) and a semi symetrical wing. Its wing loading will be good in light winds as well.
