Question about epoxy
 

:D:D:DDoes anyone know what the shelf life is for epoxy.My resin is turning white&granular,it is less than a year old,the hardener is OK

i dont know why that happens but i have had 3 sets of great planes epoxy do that to me and you can easily avoid the problem by buying a different brand. that is what i wouyld reccomend

I have had several different types of epoxy for years with non ever doing that. Sounds like I would find another brand or use what you have faster (build more). I would not trust it in one of my planes if it did that. I would toss it and buy fresh stuff or another brand just to be safe. [8D]

To remove the white granular formation in the bottom of the container, take the lid off and stand the container in a tray/bowl of hot water until the formation disappears. The resin will be perfectly good for use.

I suppose the whole thing could be warmed in an oven. I just have something against putting containers of chemicals in an oven where I cook my food.

Just hot water works best. It will take care of your problem.

i think he means the whole thing turned white, grainy and super thick. i had the same problem. will hot water cure that too?

Yes.

Any gentle heat applied will restore the resin. Standing the container in hot water seems to be the least offensive. I could imagine somebody taking a blow torch to it if we said "Just heat it up"
