got a nother plane

Every day after work my dad throws all his change into a big bucket... well he was flyin my plane the other day (buddybox) and he reallly enjoys it. so we went to dierbergs and they had this coinstar machine (it pretty much trades change for cash. but takes about 9 % off of each dollar)

anyways after like 45 mins of working with the machin we finally get a total.. 507 buckaroonies.

so we get home and no more then 45 mins has passed until we bought a hobico avistar ARF version.. we added the thundertiger .46 engine and airtronics vg400 radio
we also bought allll kinds of field equipment

pretty much were this is giong is whats your oppinioin on the hobbico avistar??? lol

The Avistar is a nice plane. Because of the semi-symetrical wing it is more aerobatic than the majority of trainers. The plane has no bad habits. You will notice that the plane will land a little faster than a flat bottom airfoil.

Good luck with the plane and happy flying.

Avistar good - dierbergs bad... Next time go to the bank, they have the same machine and won't charge you to use it. You just lost $45.81

yeah no kidding. Just spend an evening putting your change in rolls, haul it up to the bank and do it for free!

Excellent plane. One of the classics when it comes to trainers and can double as a pretty capable 2nd plane with the right engine ( 46 ) and a little rearward CG.

hey thanks a lot guys i really appreciate it.

btw we did go up to a bank and they said they wouldnt take em[X(] so that was our only choice

Just follow the instructions and all will be well. If not, Start it up and get it running slightly rich. Let it run at around 1/3rd throttle for 5 minuits. Let it cool off. Then repeat this through a coupla tanks of fuel. Then over the next coupla tanks raise the throttle and lean it out some untill you can hold full throttle for 10 or so seconds and go back to idle and back without a problem.. Then set it a coupla clicks rich and go have a ball.

If you had not rolled them, that's perfectly understandable. If you had rolled them, I'd begin shopping for another bank.

Please glue the wing halves together with 30 min epoxy, don't depend on the small joiner straps and trim tape. The Avistar is my favorite to help students to learn; you can fly in more wind than the flat bottom versions without feeding in so much down to keep it from ballooning during landing.
I don't recall if the ARF has the same vertical stab bolt on as the RTF, but you need to epoxy in if it is. Too many times the nuts will vibrate loose letting the horizontal stab shift and or the whole tail group breaking off.
After break-in, change to a new glow plug. Small metal sludge will coat and burn onto the glow plug coil and cause hard starting and deadsticks. You'll know it's time when you remove the ni-starter and the engine suddenly drops rpm.

I suggest puttting on a bigger washer then the one they give you for the vertical stab. and put two nuts on with loctite

The Avistar is a great simi-aero..trainer, It'll let you grow more!! And
its quite durable when you have those, "I didn't mean to do it moments"
You do have to keep the speed up a little more for landings verses the
true trainer.. But it'll serve you a lot longer!! Just take your time and
get the wings and tail feathers epoxied (30min) real good and let it
truely set... Keep em aligned also and she'll treat you well!!
This if for the ARF... which I think is better than the select.. She'll fly
ok with a 40 but a 46 will be a lot better!!
