BEEP BEEP - locator for your downed plane

After loosing my plane in some very tall beans of all things, I wanna put one of those beepers on my plane that goes off when the Xmitter is off.

Where can I find one?

NOT MAKE ONE.

Thanks,
RichD

This article is all about them, including where to buy several different kinds.

I've been using the Hobbico Air Alert on my planes for a couple of years now. They seem to work OK. The one thing I did do was hook it into the aileron channel with a Y cord instead of into the throttle channel. If I'm doing lazy figure eights or doing slow circuits waiting to land, it can go into "lost airplane" mode as I can fly around for a minute or more without touching the throttle... I can't however fly very long without using the ailerons!

Edit: Do a search on Tower Hobbies for "Hobbico Air Alert" and you're set!

That is what I don't like about the Air Alert. I tossed mine. I use the one listed in the article above. Have a buch of 'em and put them in all my planes. I love 'em!

GWS has one now that can handle a 6V battery too, I'm going to give these a try.

I get mine from http://www.jchobbies.com/ . (I don't see them on the web site, but give them a call.) They are a little more expensive than the Hobbico ones, but without the throttle "feature".

there are several listed in the thread so far. Which one do you get from JCHobies, so we would know what to ask for.

I think maybe they make them themselves. It doesn't have a brand name or anything, just a sticker with their web site on it. My memory is last time I ordered one, I just called and asked if they were still making them, and they said sure.

I'm using a couple from a company called something like "California Sailplane Products" or something like that. I don't know where they came from, my wife got them for me a while back as a Christamas (or birthday, I forget) present.

The ones I have work based on the RX loosing TX signal. It's neat, and they work well.
