Is the GreatPlanes slow poke a good choise for my first plane? If yes why? Ifno why not?

No I have one and it does not fly that well. I would try one of the other trainers that are put out by great planes. tower, sig etc.

I've got the kit version I built 4 or 5 years ago using an OS 26 and it's a good (not great) slow flyer. I don't look on either the 25 or 40 size as a good trainer since they're taildragers and not a windy flyer for a beginner. A plane such as the Avistar trainer offers better handling on the windy days. If you like their style, then save it for the second or third plane.
