Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
Hi All,
Need some advice. I have been into RC cars for a few years now, and now would like to get into RC planes. I have never flown before and am looking for a good RTF or ARF plane. It's gotta be able to take some abuse, and I'd like the electronics to be able to be carried over to a new plane. I think I would like a 4 channel system to start. I have a huge corn field in back of my house, and it can get a little windy, so I'll need something smooth and stable. Are there any suggestions? |
RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
I would first recommend you find a club and get with an instructor to learn to fly. If you can't do this, then I would recommend that you get Real Flight and learn to fly several of the planes listed and to be able to get into and out of any situation possible. Once you can do all of this and takeoff and land on the asphalt runway 10 times in a row, then I would recommend that you get a Hobbico Avistar Select or Hanger 9 Alpha. These planes are slightly aerobatic and RTF.
I hope this helps! ORIGINAL: fuxemup Hi All, Need some advice. I have been into RC cars for a few years now, and now would like to get into RC planes. RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
go look on my post ,dura-plane trainer 40. it's on the arf forum.
good luck |
RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
First off, that name shouldn't be allowed. It's vulgar, and inappropriate for a public forum. You have not class, no taste, and are usless to me. Therefore, I won't entertain your troll anymore.

Wow....
Find a club... as mentioned... you can teach yourself,,,but I would bet on the first flight (if teaching yourself) there will be a crash...... that being said... I fly a Sig Kadet LT-40 Wonderful flyer...... very forgiving but still resposive enough to be fun... |
RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
Thanks Fellas (except for 2slow2matter), you were all helpful. I will get the Realflight system and practise there first before getting a trainer.

RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
Well, 2slow has a point. This is a family friendly site, and we don't allow people to use vulgarity, or to even severely bash someone else.
The name is pretty offensive, and I think you should think seriously about changine it if you plan to become a regular here. Dennis- |
RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
I actually find DBCherry offensive to women. I think it is YOU who should change your name. Once again, I thank the people who were kind enough to reply to my post. And not the other morons who felt this a forum to voice their opinion on my handle. It's stuff like that that makes people not want to get into the hobby. Are all plane guys conservative jerks?

RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
I agree with DBcherry and 2Slow. You probably won't get any help here with a handle like that.

RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
I happened to use my first initials and last name, Dennis B. Cherry. If a woman should happen to find that offensive, there's not too much I can do about it.
If that happens to be YOUR name, I both apologize AND feel sorry for you. (Although mine was tough enough to grow up with.) ;) This site happens to be very friendly as well as family oriented (as is RC flying). My post was more in the way of trying to let you know that you'll have a difficult time being accepted on this site using that name. And if you ask me, it's things like your "handle" and it's accompanying attitude that are more likely to prevent people from getting involved in this hobby. At least the type of people we WANT to attract. It may well be acceptable in RC Car circles, but not here, thankfully. Dennis- |

You can choose to continue to offend people, or you can work with the great people who manage and participate in this site by choosing an id that is less offensive. Choice is yours, maybe. |
RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
Get the Hangar 9 Corsair. Retractable gear and the whole thing. Great flyers and many have used them for a first plane.!

RE: Never Flown Before, Need a Plane
I agree with cyclic. Although it's a little easier to fly than the trainer I used, you should find it fun to fly for quite a while:D
