batteries

How many flights do you guys get before you have to recharge your reciever batteries? I have new batteries in my rx and tx. I don't have a voltmeter (yet) to check them with. I usually run about three tanks through my plane then call it a day in fear of losing my plane to a dead battery. Could I get by w/ flying a couple more times before heading home?

Thanks

Why take a chance, on board voltmeters are much cheaper than a crashed plane. Try Voltwatch or similar, reasonably reliable and about 10 bucks, cheap insurance.

I'm working on getting a voltmeter. I just want to know in the meantime how many flights I can safley fly without loosing my plane. I'm not gonna wait for a week for my voltmeter to get here before I fly again.

I use the 3 flight rule. If I get 3 flights in during one session (Which is rare). I don't chance a 4th

I say it depends on the battery as well as # of servos/type you're using.

I have a typical trainer setup with 4 standard servos. I use the VoltWatch on board voltmeter from Hobbico and a 1200mAh battery.

I get around 10 flights on this setup and I'm still in the "Green" zone.

If you have a standard 600mAh Rx battery, & it if is fully charged, & if you have a 4-servo system that is properly set-up -- 4 ten mi. flights are OK. This means that the battery has been plugged in for ~ 24 hrs & you unplugged it just before you left for the field. Anything less than that & 3 flights is the max.

Buying a biggger milliamp battery will get you longer flights. But as stated before, a voltmeter and/or field charger is cheap insurance!!

On a typical trainer, with typical 600mah pack, and typical trainer servos flown in a typical trainer way, I agree with what others have said. 4 10min flights, or 3 15min flights.

Larger batteries are nice, but remember that you have to charge them longer or on a faster rate charger, your typical "wall wort" isn't really up to it anymore.

I use a fast charger at the field all the time. Last sunday I put around 10 flights on my trainer, recharged the flight pack twice :D.

I get 7 on my system.
I have gotten as many as 9 but I notice that I get blow back on the rudder.
