Free Engine if you really need it!

I have a Mutunic-65 complete with muffler (Russian I think?) I got in a trade a long time ago- it runs fine.... I will never use it (I fly 46 size)

I figured there might be a newbie, maybe a young person, or whomever that might be able to use it- since it is collecting dust now---

Perfect for a trainer or beat-up plane or somethin' :D

Please be honest, let this be for someone who needs it!

James
P.S.
I challenge all you airplane nuts to find something in your shop, that you will not use, and give it away! It IS the holiday season--- Pay it forward

How Generous... Is It A 2 stroke? If you absolutely cant find any one who needs it I could use it for my tiger 60... However... I Don't want it if anyone else even REMOTLY wants it/needs it.

Now this engine is probably not a powerhouse but I'll send it to ya to try and you can't beat the price!

PM me your mailing address and I'll send it out- (I need to remove it from a hanging airplane)

Happy holidays and keep us posted on your new ship!

That's great James!

I give stuff to new guys (especially young teens) all the time (or sell it to newbies at really reduced rates when I know they can afford it), and seeing it happen here on RCU is nice. :D

Thanks,
Dennis-

I was a cop for 20 years, a judge for 4 years and a probation officer for 12 years. It make you forget sometimes there are still good people in this world and you are a great reminder of then. God bless.

Ditto Razor. Well Done!

I am going to do a sweep of the shop and see what goodies turn up that I can do without.

How about the rest of you guys?

Well thank you for the kind words... I can remember when our family was VERY poor (wait we still are [X(]) and I would stare at the model magazines and earmark the pages with the really cool stuff- waiting for Christmas for a new kit (My dad would build it as I supervised..LOL)

A brand new K&B Sportster-65 was the light of my life at 13 yrs old- I have done this in the past on RCU but immediately erased it, because I did not want any credit- just wanted to do something nice... Now I realize others may jump-in and give a little in this hobby we love so much, and where so many youngsters would get involved if it were a little cheaper-

Everybody start digging! I have a Pitts muffler for OS-46FX/TT Pro-46/Irvine-53 (same size) and 4 standard servos also-

Happy Holidays,
James

WTG Razor!

I too, recently was given a start into RC planes by a complete stranger. I work in the maintenance field and just happen to ask a question about some of the pics I was admiring on his wall... next thing I know I'm hauling truck loads of RC goodies from his basement!

When I was a kid I always bought the RC magazines but just never got around to making the plunge int the unknown but I have now. I just purchased my 2nd kit (1st kit underway-Sig 4*) The 'RC man' gave me so much equipment that I gave a few planes away to newly aquired rc friends that already are at the skill level of the planes. I won't have my basement cleaned up to build or store this stuff for another week or two! Let the learning begin! :D

I was one of the ones that benefited from Luckyned's good fortune and I must say if the planes he gave me are any indication of the gentlemen that helped him then [X(] I was given a Model tech P-51 ARC (not an ARF) and a World Models P-40 Warhawk (ARF). Both very solid. I was completely surprised when luckyned showed up at the LHS I work partime at.

[sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]He definitely deserves a round of applause [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]

It wasn't the fact that I needed the equipment or anything like that, I'm not that big into warbirds but my father is (I'm 44 btw) and he cannot wait to help finishing these planes. He is wheelchair bound. I have done the same to other new rc hobbists

Anyway,

I know I have an older OS61FSR with a strap on muffler. I found the original manual online and could also supply it. I know it runs well but I have no need for it. (too small for my needs).

Just PM me if you want it.

Nitrobasher... Be sure and report back how your first flight on that 4* goes, and post some pics when you get it all functional!

I like the idea of having a freebie shop here at RCU. But my concern would be unscrupulous people taking advantage of it. I have some items I would be happy to donate, but I would want to be relatively sure that they are going to a youngster who doesn't have the means to buy the stuff himself and not somebody passing himself off so he can get a bunch of free stuff to swap shop.

In any case, this was a nice thing to do, Razor.

I wonder if the moderators can come up with some kind of an idea for this.

Caffeenman, please don't think it is just youngsters who do not have the means to buy stuff. in some cases adults have an even harder time at making purchases. I have been married now for 2 years and it has not been easy. i was working in a factory making washing machines when i took ill after numerous test it turned out i had chrones disease.
when it came to my medical insurance paying for it they said that the tests i had were not covered (things like CT scans). so i was liable for the bill. the week i was due to return to work they laid me off. i was down but not out and went to school to train as an EMT which i passed all the exams. I started working for a volunteer fire dept as a firefighter/EMT and i am continuing in school to become a paramedic. Its hard when you have very little financially and your sinking deeper and deeper, but it is even harder when you are trying to claw your way out of that situation. I think it is great that you guys are willing to give something to someone who may be less fortunate. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
paul

RE: Free Engine if you really need it!

pauluk - I know what you mean and I agree. I've been feeling the pain this year as well. I got injured at work exactly a year ago and have been on worker's comp ever since. I'm living at at the poverty line and basically living on fumes. I wouldn't be building at all had I not had a stock of balsa and supplies built up during better times. In fact, I probably can't pay my AMA this year so it looks like I'll be doing nothing but building for the foreseeable future. I do have plenty to build though so it's not exactly tragic. If I really want to see my planes fly, I have friends who are happy to fly them. I'll have to be satisfied watching for a while. Life goes on...

I won't ever forget being a broke kid and that was even tougher because we lived in the boonies and there weren't a lot of ways for a kid to make money. I sold Christmas cards. :)

I also got a lot of free stuff and great help from the local hobby shop (local being 20 miles away) and various adults in the hobby who knew how badly I wanted to fly and did what they could to help me make it happen. That's the main reason why my website is free and I don't charge a subscription or some nonsense like that. Everything I learned I learned for free if you don't count the cost of buying magazines and I wouldn't feel right charging to give it back.
