It's not a .46, but I have an Enya .35BB that runs, needs a muffler too.

RE: Pay it forward (Was freebie and free engine)

Some of you may know me already, or may know a bit of history behind my situation.
i enjoy training people. While i am an avid sport flyer, teaching people to fly is very rewarding and is usually the start of another flying buddy. However, after an unfortunate mid-air involving my pride and joy, the extreme flight yak 54, i had to do an emergency transfer of equipment from my trainer to my twist in order to have something sporty to fly. (my trainer is simply too slow paced for me) which makes sense because i fly my sporty planes a lot more than i flew my trainer. Now however that i have a primary plane and an emergency backup/wuper rediculously windy day throw around plane, i need to get my trainer back into flying shape, so i can continue training others. I have been generously offered a radio/rx which really made my day, (if you wish i will mention you here, PM me) and i have inquired about an engine, but i still need to replace my throttle and elevator servos, which were also transfered to my twist. I would have preffered to buy the parts myself, but i am currently in debt to my parents over the yak because they were kind enough to pay for the replacement on the condition that i pay them back as the $$ becomes available, but at 14 allowance is limited so i will be in debt for a while before i can actually begin to save up for any equipment. if anyone has two standard JR or futaba servos, i would appreciate it if they would let me know.

Roowave, I don't have a trainer available, but if a plane is all you need, and you just want "Something that flies" for now, check out the SPAD forum. You can build one of those for about 20 bucks.

To everyone else:

I closed the other threads pertaining to this topic. This one is pinned to the top and will serve as THE single "Pay it forward" thread.

As such, I would like to repeat something I said in one of the other threads:

There is something I really want to stress to anyone who is on the receiving end of all this generosity...

Please Please PLEASE, don't take this stuff simply because you WANT it - or because it will save you from buying it.

Take it because you NEED it, and really can't get it by other means.

As you can see, many of us are more than willing to part with some very nice merchandise for a WORTHY cause.

So before you jump at the chance for a freebie, ask yourself if there isn't someone else who really needs it more than you do.

Thank you.

Thanks for closing the other threads. I suggested linking to them a few days ago, but hey, whatever works.

This way it all is in one and easier to track.

Well put about the want versus need thing.

Hope your thanksgiving was good :D

SpaceClam,

The rule of the thread is "Pay it Forward" meaning that you help another new person to the hobby in some way, which if I remember correctly, you needed the radio and servos for the trainer so you can get back into training people. That in itself is good enough in my book considering your age.

Just please keep us informed and if you know of people that are willing to add to the collection of donating used equipment then turn them onto this thread...

Hi, I'm pretty new to the sport also, I,am building a sig .40 trainer for myself. I have all the essentials for it, but my 9 yr old is very interested in it now, and I'am unable to purchase anything else at this time. (how much could one airplane cost anyway?) My wifes question as I asked for permission for the first!!!! I would be willing to get any help, even used at a good price would be great, plus the knowledge of what items go with each other.......

Just for having fun and experiencing the thrill of flight, I would suggest a small electric plane for him. I've flow a few myself, and and now piecing one together for my 8 year old nephew. All I have left to get for it is a motor now. Thanks to Spaceclam for the ESC! I'm sure you could locate one around somewhere, once you learn to fly, they pretty much become boring to most. It's the electronics and such that are hard to come by as spares, they're reusable later, and move on to bigger and better things with the pilots! :)

Just my 2 cents.
Keith

Some people have a need, and to proud to ask.

[8D]
For the ones that have a need and may be to proud [:o] to ask or afraid to ask....

A little bit of time ago I was that very same way. Thought I could do everything and anything and most of it seemed to come natural and my pride would overide my common sense. Now I'm older and what I like to believe is somewhat wiser and have come to realize that most people are good natured at heart and one thing that you will discover is that in this hobby so many people are more than willing to help without expecting anything in return. Some will come up and ask if you need it, others will help if asked. You will e surprised how many new and genuine friends you will have.

Now as in everything in life you also have the ones that will not help, think that they can do it better than everyone else. One thing they always forget is that even they had to start somewhere and they did not know everything. Well to each his own. In the hobby if you ever start to believe that you know it all and do not ask for help then you most likely are kidding yourself and it will become expensive quickly. I work in a technical profession where this kind of "holy'er than thou" [>:] thinking runs rampid and once you remind them that they did not know everything when they started, you become the @!%@$#hole. Oh well .

If you ever get a chance to visit the TOC and any IMAC, IMAA or just visit the local clubs fun fly and just watch and start talking to people. I got the chance to talk to several pilots that routinlely are invited to the TOC and fly multiple IMAC contests every year about 6 months ago. They were all extremely pleasant to talk with, remember well how they got started and made recommendations to me to become an IMAC competitor and even offered to critque my flying (which I let them do) and to this day I still follow the advice I was openly given and I hope to be competing in 2005.

What I am trying to say is DO NOT be afraid to ask if you really need it. If it is something you want but have no need them let someone else take it. It is up to the person giving the item away to make the decision as to who gets it and why and Minn and I have suggested several posts ago that PM is used and a conversation is started between the 2 parties before a decision is made.

All we ask is that when you are able, you return the favor to someone in need in the hobby, that is the one and only rule. That is why this thread was started. It was not my original idea (Razor-RCU started it by giving away a good engine) but I took it and just changed the name and gave it a different purpose.

Another good example that this thread has done is I gave a decent radio to someone who needs one to get his trainer back in the air so he can return to teaching other to fly, He is young and does not have allot of money, I just saw he has "Paid it Forward" a few posts ago so it does work. By and large, that is not the only one ( I even know of 2 or 3 planes that have been given).

I wish to thank those that have so generously given up to this point.

:D:D:D Now...speak up and tell us all what you NEED...come on...give it up, someone will jump it ASAP. :D:D:D

RE: Pay it forward (Was freebie and free engine)

Hmm I have an Airtronics FM Receiver and a channel 53 crystal for it. I also have an Midwest Extra 330 .40 sized profile airframe in absolutely flawless condition all it needs is the engine and radio gear installed. The wing is permanantly attached but if we can figure out a way to get it to someone it is theirs. Just PM me once the panel has decided who the worthy recipient will be, just check back and make sure I still have it..

Please dont take this as a brag because it is not, but it feels SO good to share things with those who need it. I recently gave an Airtronics Transmitter away, I also gave a complete U CAN DO away about 3 days ago. I had sold it on payments to a guy at the field who is a real good pilot but was obviously unable to pay. I told him to pay it out on his own time. He called the other day and he had lost his job and was being pressed to return it by his wife. I told him to keep it Saito 1.20, servos everything but the receiver,,, and ya know what ????? it didnt hurt a bit;). The only criteria I gave him was that I expected to see him at the field flying it soon and not think another thing about it.

If I can give away a complete practically new airplane with everything but a receiver surely you guys can spare a servo or an engine or whatever to those who really need it to stay in the hobby.

Feels fantastic to help somoene out I tell you that is for sure,, DO IT you wont regret it!!!...

RE: Pay it forward (Was freebie and free engine)

BigNed,

There is no panel. It is strictly up to the person giving the item (you in this case) and the person wishing to receive the item (once someone PM's you). As you are doing, PM is the preferred method between the 2 parties once the post for someone that is giving an item or a post that someone is looking for an item

Just be a little careful as what you are offering is fantastic. Since you did this before you know what I mean

Does feel great :D, I just sent a complete radio and RX and an OS61 to 2 different people and I know of at least 2 planes that have been given not counting yours.

This thread is really starting to work well. :)

If anyone reads this I would like to suggest that the link to this thread be passed on so this thing can do what it's designed for and that is to get as many people involved as possible.

Dang, and we already said that this should be for someone who needs this stuff and not just a "want"... :D Can't say that I NEED it but I want it! :)

hey guys im am 15 years old and imy parents said they would get me a sig something extra as a second plane for chirstmas(im gonna build this one) so i was wondering if anyone had an engine that would be good for it, i wouldnt mine if i had to pay for it. i think that they recommend a .40 - .45 2 stroke engine and a .56 - .61 4 stroke engine

Here's a link to a UAV project we have going on at school. [link]http://www.msstate.edu/~mvd8[/link] We could use donations, suggestions, or just your interest. Send me an e-mail if you might be interested.

By the way, this thread is awesome. Being in college, I don't have much RC stuff to give away. What I do is simply let other people try their skills on my plane. I just finished a S.P.A.D. to use for this purpose. My other plane isn't fancy, but I much rather risk my spad.

has anyone got a set of ski's or floats for a 40-60 size trainer. as most of us know the snow is about to start and that would mean no more flying unless a plane is equiped with ski's/floats
thanks

RE: Pay it forward (Was freebie and free engine)

I too would like to let everyone know of a couple of successes I have had. I just recently met my club president's son at a fun fly/bar-b-que that we had a few weeks ago. Although his dad was the club pres., he did not fly, he enjoyed R/C trucks. He brought his RC-10GT and his Traxxass T-Maxx out. We talked the entire day about R/C Trucks (I have had several and still own a highly modified T-Maxx). I invited him to my house and showed him my set-up. Needless to say he was amazed at the extent of my modifications. During his visit, I started looking through my fieldbox. I came across several items that he would be able to upgrade his T-Maxx with. Although I paid good money for these hop-ups, I no longer needed them and donated them to him. He was suprised and offered to purchase the items, but I told him to take the items. Now he wants to start upgrading his T-Maxx more. I offered my assistance in any way possible. I used to race mine locally (fairly successful too) and have a really good understanding on what upgrades will benifit him. I learned the hard way, by spending tons of $$$ on different set-up that didn't work. I plan on helping him out further as he modifies his T-maxx.

I also was able to get one of my best friends into this great hobby. My other best friend and I have been into R/C planes and cars since high school (16 years now) and we have been flying together on a regular basis since this summer. We invited our other friend and he was impressed with the abilities of our planes. He expressed his interest in getting involved. After talking it over with my other friend, we decided to get an old trainer together, complete with radio gear and engine, and let him have it. But we also told him to join the AMA and one of our clubs. Then we will buddy-box with him and get him going. I am in the proccss of getting the trainer together and making sure the engine runs good. He has offered to pay for it, but I told him not to worry about it. There's nothing better than spending the day with your 2 best friends at the field doing something we all love. I would rather go flying with them than hit the bars any day of the week. This kind of hobby can help you bond even more with the people you are closest too.

As soon as I get time from work/kids, I am going to go through my "stuff" and see what else I have to donate. I think I may have an O.S. 46LA laying around somewhere. I will definitely check and post my results.

Thanks and happy flying.
