Power of Avistar
 

Hey guys, I am back. I used to ask a bunch of questions on my plane and how to get it started and what to buy and how to put it together like 4 weeks ago. I have been flying it at my local club for the past three weeks with an instructor. The TT.46 I put in it is super good for it. It has plenty of power and is very fast. And with the semi-symetrical wing. It is a great trainer plane but, I think it is better then a flat winged trainer plane because u can do aerobatics with it too. I have already learned to do rolls and loops. They are really not that hard, I was surprised. A boy at my club that has a flat winged trainer was mad at his dad after he saw me doing rolls with my trainer and was wanting his dad to tell him why he cannot do rolls with his flat winged trainer. I will post another post whenever I solo, I am sure it will be like 3 or 4 more weeks. I have just been flying in the air and have not took off or landed yet. Just wanted to give the guys who have gave me advice and information on here an update on how I am doing and the advice I recieved helped me alot.

Flat winged trainers can do rolls. They are not pretty, but they will do it. The reason he can't is more experience level than anything else.

Anyway, congrats on getting some flying time.

To answer your next question (that you haven't asked yet), the "best" second airplanes are the Tiger 2 and Sig 4* and Mid* :D

I'm glad that you enjoy the Avistar, it is a great airplane & it is a ton of fun. However, in your friend's case, having a flat-bottomed airfoil has no effect on the ability of his model to do rolls. If he wants more agility, get him to increase the throw of his ailerons, & also move his C-of-G back a little. Aircraft with flat-bottomed airfoils (trainers included) can fly pretty much everything in the book --it just takes a good set-up & suitable pilot skill. WWII fighters had flat-bottomed airfoils, & agility was their business.

Congrats. Now your hooked. I also have the Avistar and I'v already soloed on it, its an awsome plane to fly. The aerobatics the landings. I love it.you knever know it might not be another 3-4 weeks It might be tommorow or next week. Some things take a while to get down like controls reversed when your coming at yourself. And sometimes landings and takeoffs come easy to some people.

I know flat wings can do rolls. I wrote that wrong. Just Semi's do the rolls alot easier is what I meant

yes. If anyway ever ask what trainer to get I'll say Avistar over Superstar anyday. Its so easy to fly I can't imagine it getting any easier. I also think if a plane is manuverable its easier to get out of bad positions.

The Avistar does fly aerobatics better than the Superstar, but it has more to do with the weight of the Superstar and its dihedral. There are some inverted activities that the Superstar will be inferior in but not all. All of the pos G activities should be equally easy (ignoring the effects of dihedral & weight).

Did not mean to start a discussion on wing types, sorry. Just repeating what the boy and his dad said. I as just trying to explain my flying experience so far.

I'm happy for you -- I like Avistars too -- I think that they are one of the best trainers on the market. Don't worry about the wings, just have fun -- that's what it is all about.:D

had my Superstar 40 with an EVO TPS and a MA 11x6 up on Friday, 1st time in like a month. just an awesome flight. have maxed my ailerons out and it rolls nicely, just took a little practice to get the elevator input right.

Cool Deal.. I cannot wait until I solo. I like the instructors helping me out because they are so nice. Just have to wait on them so I can fly my plane. I wish I could fly it whenever I wanted too. But i am sure that will come soon.

You`ll be there soon. I soloed on an Avistar a little over a year ago and still enjoy flying it along with a Sig 4* 40 and Kyosho PT-19. Along with the LT-40, PT-40, Superstar, it`s an all time classic RC airplane, in my opinion. Once you solo, you`ll enter the " danger zone " for an imminent crash. Just remember, ALTITUDE AND AIR SPEED ARE YOUR FRIENDS, particularly as a beginner.

i loved my avistar.. Lost her to a damn radio failure.. Oh well.. I got some of it rebuilt now, Last going off I had it set up to max. throws and was doing some very nice snaps and flat spins with it.. Got a little crazy with her at times... :D Damn I miss flying, Need to get my extra off the bench.

You Know it's funny I have a learjet and a p-51 some pretty fast planes and I still love just taking out my avistar and flying just for fun. It's over thrown on control but have something like 200 or so flights on it. Practice slow flight in to the wind and pretend like your landing in the air. good luck on solo

P.S. I like my superstar 40 and ep too, they both loop and roll
