Need Help!
 

Hey everyone I am new to the world of rc flying and I really wanted to know what would be a really great beggining flyer something that is easy to fly but I wont get bored with, my friend recently bought a challenger but it didnt really show me that much for 150 dollars, if you guys have any suggestions what you think the best rc planes out there are please let me know..

If you are wanting something in the 40 range then I like the Great Planes Easy Sport. It is stable enough for a trainer but will let you learn basic aerobatics also. There are plenty of good planes out there this is just the one I thought of.

Are you flying with a club? If so then I'd recommend the Hangar 9 Arrow with a semi symetrical airfoil. That way you'll be able to learn to fly and have a plane that will do mild aerobatics as well. I do realize that it is a bit outside your stated goal of $150 it is worth it. Just my .02 worth.

Help me out here. What was it that you felt was lacking in the Challenger and how much are you willing to spend. From a dollar value point of view, the Challenger is hard to beat, so there must be something else you were looking for.

Are you focused on electrics, glow power, gliders or helis?

Do you have any flying experience?

The SIG Four STAR 40 or 60 are both great Semi semtrical airfoils and and can be set up for either stable flight or add in more throw on the control surfaces and this plane comes ALIVE!!!!! I fly mine with a OS 40 SF, but i believe this plane would fly well on a OS LA40 if your on a budget. The plane comes as either a ARF or a kit. One thing to take into consideration is that generly these semi areobatic planes are lighter and ar not as durable and not as forgiving to a BOO BOO!!!. My first plane was the PT-40 kit with a FX 46. The kit lets you decide on 2 different dihedreals. I built with the greater as they recommended with makes the plane very stable,I believe that if built with less, then PT 40 would do some areobatic manevers with no trouble.I really recommend this plane as i can vouch that this plane it built stout!!!! as i have put mine to the test. Welcome to the Hobby as i am fairly new and am hooked.

The 4 stars are good planes to learn on, But if your just getting into
the hobby and want something that'll take a little more abuse and
take you further than a "normal trainer" I would say the Avistar
would be a great choice.. My Avistar took me further on my learning
curve and handled some abuse and came out still in one piece:-) I'm
now added floats to it for some lake flying:-)

Thanks guys your replies have really helped but I think the best reviews ive gotten for a beginner is the nexstar .46, so we will see I am going to take lessons at an ama near my house so hopefully I will learn alot... also the reason the challenger didnt show me that much was because the first day we got it he ran it into a powerline not even a powerpole it plummeted and the plane hasnt flown right since. Thanks for all the help.

Ah yes, the famous power pole landing.

If you want to get the Aerobird flying again, let me know. That should be easily fixed IF you know what to do, and I do.
