Returning back after 8 years. Need help.
 

Hi,
i`m planning to return to the hobby after 8 years. Last year i tryed to fly my Goldberg Ultimate, which i was not as comfortable with as old days. I even gave the radio to an instructor to land it.
So i need a more basic plane now. Planning to buy a H9 Ultra Stick 60 and put my OS 108 (bgx-1 2 stroke) on it. Will that be too much power? i could buy a 120 but i think 108 dont have the enough power for it.
I need some advice now for the H9 US or choosing another plane for my 108. Dont want to spend money on a trainer as it will be useless in a couple of weeks for me. I see many new planes are in the market now, but i know nothing about them anymore.

I came back after 20 years, yes ... I hated my trainer, sold it after 2 flights. IMHO you will need something other than a 60 sized plane with a 108 2C engine. Why not get a simple low wing like a SIG 4* That will let you enjoy a aerobatic but easy enough for you to learn landing etc. Also, that will be a great Sunday plane for a lot of fun but relaxed flying.

I started the flying hobby again after a 5 year break.
I bought the World Models Skyraider Mach2 and a Thunder Tiger .46-pro, this was a cheap and good flying plane and my ticket back to flying.
Now I have two planes, working on a third and have ordered a fourth :)

Yeah ... the Sky Raider would be a good plane to start with again ... easy to take off and easy to land. A 'No fuss' plane ...

I have an Ultra Stick 60 with a Saito .82 and it flies and lands as easy as any trainer plus the aerobatics it can perform are just awesome. The US60 would be an excellent plane to get you "back in the saddle."

Good choice in plane, but the 1.08 is just going to be too big, too heavy, and too large a prop diameter.
You'd be better off with something a tad smaller, engine wise. They make a 120 size stick that might work with the 1.08 well. I haven't seen this combination flown, so I don't know for sure.

H9 Ultra Sticks have very good feedback here. Maybe i should go for the 120 with that engine.
Dont want to spend money on another engine, as i want to get back to my Ultimate after some practice.
What do you think about a H9 US120 with an OS 1.08 ?

I think the Ultra Stick Lite With the 1.08 sounds great. I'm getting one with a G-2300(1.4) this x-mas and it should hover and pull out with authority.. Soe guys fly them at my field with O.S. 1.6's and they hover at less then 1/3 throttle! So the 1.08 should be fine if you don't care for Hardcore 3D:D

I know where you are coming from. I was out of the sport for 10 years. But I had flown C/L all my life, up to 52 inch spans, and I got into R/C about 8 years ago with a TT Trainer and GP42 engine which has now become almost unflyable. My hanger now has 4 planes and engine sizes from 40's to an OS 91 four stroke. My RAZZLE and SUPER CHIPMUNK are a long way from my trainer but I kept it around and flew it until age and flight time wore it out. I am thinking about the 4 STAR 60 for my next project, because I still like to float them in for landings.

I am running a 1.08 FSR in a Great Planes U-Can-Do 60. It has unlimited verticle and rockets out of a hover, if it gets hairy. You MUST practice throttle management with this set up, but the 1.08 isn't that much more than a good .91. The 1.08 swings a 15X6 prop with great authority. I think Tower is selling the UCD for about $179.00. On low rates and low throttle it flies like a slow pattern plane, kick up the rate (use plenty of expo.) and you'll have a ball. This is a great, steady, stable airplane that can outfly a stick any day. Give it a try, you won't regret it.
