lanier stinger 40 wing help!!

I have put the wrong brand of contact cement and melted the styrofoam and ruined the wings...You say just bite the bullet and order some new wings from lanier...good idea except i did that already...I ordered wings from Lanier before Christmas and they are still telling me that it will be 3 to 4 weeks on back order. I have everything in order to get this baby off the ground and no wings.

Does anyone know how i can get or make wings faster than dealing with a very pour Lanier company???

There are companies out there that will custom cut foam cores for you. But you generally have to know a bit about what you want first.

That said, depending on the foam, and how much melting you did, you might be able to splice in some new foam. Check out your local hardware store for foam. The blue or pink stuff is likely a little heavier than what you have, but not enough to notice for a small hole. Cut out the melted section, cut a chunk to fit the hole. Now glue in place with Polyurathane glue (Elmers "ultimate glue", gorillia glue, etc). Use a light mist of water if you're shop has low humidity. Be sure to tape the foam in place. Once it's dry, you can sand the foam to the right shape. When doing this kind of thing, I usually try to get a good fit where the glue will be, but leave the outside oversized, so I can sand it down to match the rest of the wing.

I melted a very large area on both sides of both wings... all the way through in some places those wings are not fixable. But how do i find the companies that custom cut foam and would a stick built wings work???

Ah, I didn't realize the wings were that bad.

One company I know of that does mostly stuff for combat planes is Hattrick enterprises. But I know I've seen ads for others. Try doing a google search for CNC foam wing cutting.

Sure, you could just frame up a wood wing if you wanted to.

I've got a stinger 40 sized wing sitting in my garage, it's assembled and sheeted, no ailerons installed yet, see pic below. I don't have any other parts for it, I had a stinger 40 kit, and built the wing to this point.... then as sorry as this might sound, I used the wood for other projects, and scrapped the rest of it.. the wing is in pretty good condition... let me know if your interested we can work something out..
