12 V Seriously Newb ?
 

Ok how long do you charge the power supply bat. Just got my field gear and nead to know. Im serious, it doesnt even say anywhere on the manual (what manual?).

I usually give mine about 5 hours @ 2 amps.

There are automatic chargers available that charge the battery and then go to trickle charge. I use an old Ace charger. See the latest model at www.acehobby.com and find the Super CVC charger.

I charge mine overnight for about 12 hours. I use an ordinary tower hobbies wall charger (I don't remember how many amps it puts out). Seems to work well. When I used the regular radio system charger, I would plug the transmitter, plane, and flight box battery in the night before flying and unplug them the next day about noon. The flight box battery doesn't need charging as often though.

If it's the regular wall charger that came with your radio, charge overnight the day before you are planning to fly. Quick field chargers will have all kinds of lights and shutoffs.

When you say power supply battery are you talking about the 12v battery for the electric stater and power panel??? Or are you talking about the batterys for you radio gear?? I use the wall wart for the 12v starter battery for 12 to 18 hours and I use just a quick field charger on the radio gear.

This may sound a bit unorthodox but, I found that a cheep 12V jump start pack works well. I've been using one for about a year. It has a charge indicator light and takes a charge from a car lighter as well as a wall wart. An overnight charge is all it needs. It's heavy but hey, if someone needs a jump start at the field I've got em covered.

I charge mine at 14.5 volts until the current drops below 50ma.
