Grape flavored fuel?
There is this guy at my field that was talking about his fuel. He said one was grape and the other was cherry. I thought they were joking until I got a whiff of it. I swear it the exhaust smelled like grapes.
Why would somebody do that? |
RE: Grape flavored fuel?
here is a link to towerhobbies grape scented additive. http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXERH2&P=7
why do ppl do that? Some ppl like the smell of grapes and cherries better than burning nitro and castor oil. ***edited in below*** they also have other scents http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...p?&C=PFE&V=PAR coconut, cotton candy, bubble gum, rootbeer, and of course, cherry |
RE: Grape flavored fuel?
My friend used some of that stuff for a few gallons. Mainly for shish and giggles. Everytime he made a flyby the flightline would get overwhelmed with a grape smell. Was interesting. I guess its just an oil, so it won't hurt anything.

RE: Grape flavored fuel?
not quite flavored either, only scent. the flavor is still pretty bad and won't pass for grape coolaid!!
i like the castor smell, but I run 30% nitro/22% synthetic in my ucand, it doesn't have the nice smell of a burning bean! |
RE: Grape flavored fuel?
I am gonna get some during my RC career

RE: Grape flavored fuel?
This is the scariest idea I've heard in a long time. Glow fuel should be made to smell terrible. Making it smell tasty is an invitation for some unsuspecting toddler to drink it. What on earth are these people thinking? Never mind, no need to answer. The problem is they are NOT thinking!

RE: Grape flavored fuel?
Piperchuck you took the words right out my mouth. what a stupid idea. while they are at it why not make bleach smell and taste good too. that way kids can mix the two together and make a fruit punch bleach nitro cool aid

RE: Grape flavored fuel?
I completely agree with the 2 comments above...but the devil's advocate in me begs the question...what are the parents thinking leaving fuel in areas where a child can access it?
|
RE: Grape flavored fuel?
Do you have children?
|
RE: Grape flavored fuel?
Nope. In my situation, I don't care if my fuel smells like castor or grape soda pop, as I don't have any small children around. For those with children, I absolutely agree with the idea of not adding anything to the fuel that might entice a child to take a drink.
But in my situation, I wouldn't have any qualms about adding scent to my fuel. Once I have children, I'm sure my opinion will change. |
RE: Grape flavored fuel?
Ah guys, The fuel actually smells relativly the same. Its the exhaust that smells good.
